Logitech Apple-Friendly Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 Review

Logitech announced Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 works with iPads, but it's also compatible with Macs and iPhones and the K760 has Bluetooth for pairing up to three devices at a time, and it features Mac-specific keys such as Brightness, Command and Eject. Users should get about three months of use after the keyboard is fully charged up via sun or indoor light and the spun metal power button and the silver flake paint job lend a premium appearance. Like the earlier K750 and Logitech's just-introduced Solar Keyboard Folio for iPad, you can charge this keyboard in any light whether it be lamp light or sunlight and Logitech says that fully powered the keyboard works for at least three months, even in total darkness (based on average use per day of eight hours). The price tag on the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 is $79.99 and it should start shipping in the next couple of weeks, solar power is something that Logitech does pretty well.

Logitech announced the expansion of its solar offering with the new Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 for Mac, iPad or iPhone. A continuation of Logitech's solar series, which started with the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 and has continued with the Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio for iPad, this new keyboard adds Bluetooth connectivity with an easy-switching capability. It allows you to simultaneously pair multiple devices and quickly switch among them with the push of a button. "Laptops, smartphones and tablets are ubiquitous – both at work and at play," said Denis Pavillard, vice president of experience design at Logitech. "Because Apple devices are central to this trend, Logitech is committed to improving the way people interact with them. With its simple solar charging, familiar Mac layout and comfortable design, the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 will appeal to Apple users worldwide." The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 is stylish and compact with onboard solar cells for hassle-free charging. With its easy-switching Bluetooth connection, you can pair your keyboard to as many as three devices and switch among them without having to reconnect. This means you can move from typing on your Mac to your iPad to your iPhone and back again with the simple push of a button.

The perfect match for your favorite Apple device, the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 features a slim, minimalist design and Mac-specific keys, including Command, Brightness, Eject and more. The unique Logitech concave key design gives you more comfortable and quiet typing, and offers more speed and precision than typing on an on-screen keyboard. And, with its environmentally friendly PVC-free construction, fully recyclable box and onboard solar cells for charging, this keyboard is designed to minimize its environmental footprint. Similar to the existing Logitech Solar Keyboards, you can charge this keyboard in any light low light or lamp light, indoors or outdoors. Fully powered, the keyboard works for at least three months, even in total darkness (based on average use per day of eight hours). The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in June 2012, for a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Specs and Speed of the apple's a5 iphone chip

About apple's a5 iphone chip
Leading up to this Friday's launch of the iPhone 4S, AppleInsider will offer a closer look at some of the features of the next-generation handset. Given that the 'S' in the device's moniker was never officially defined by Apple, we offer five potential definitions. Today: 'S' is for Speed, thanks to the Apple A5 processor.

Apple's A5 chip, which powers the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2, is now being produced in a Texas factory owned by Samsung, Reuters reports, citing sources familiar with the operation.

Until now, Apple has mainly relied on Korean and Chinese manufacturers that produced the chips for Apple's products on their soil.

Samsung's new $3.6 billion plant in Austin is the size of nine football fields (1.6 million square feet), and it's almost solely dedicated to producing Apple chips.
Apple's a5 chip
Speed of the apple's a5 iphone chip
Speed of the apple's a5 iphone chip with The 45 nm Apple A5 chip runs on either 800 MHz or 1 GHz clock speed, and it's twice as powerful -- according to Apple -- as its predecessor, the A4.
  • The Apple A5 chip is a dual-core chip that allows CPU speeds up to twice as fast as the iPhone 4
  • It also features dual-core graphics processing that is up to seven times faster
  • The iPhone 4S has increased battery life up to 8 hours.
  • A new wireless system in the iPhone 4S allows the handset to intelligently switch between two antennas to send and receive data, improving call quality.
  • With its new system, Apple says the iPhone 4S achieves maximum theoretical download speeds of 14.4Mbps.
  • Apple said these speeds are competitive with current 4G networks.
  • The iPhone 4S also sports an 8-megapixel sensor for improved picture taking.
  • A new illuminated sensor gets 73 percent more light than the one found in the iPhone 4, and does it a third faster.
  • A high-end IR filter allows for greater accuracy and uniformity, while the handset also offers industry-leading quickness in snapping a photo.
  • The new camera will also shoot full-high-definition 1080p video, and will feature real-time video image stabilization and temporal noise reduction.
  • In one demo, Apple exec Scott Forstall asked the iPhone 4S to find a Greek restaurant in Palo Alto, Calif. The built-in Siri software returned a list of five restaurants sorted by rating.
  • Siri can also read information to users. In one example, the software read a list of notifications from the iPhone 4S.
  • The Siri system can also be utilized to make calendar appointments. It will even check if a user's schedule is free when setting up an appointment, and notify them of potential conflicts.
  • Information from Wikipedia and Wolfram Alpha can also be accessed through voice commands in Siri.
  • In another demonstration, Forstall asked Siri how long until Christmas. The "personal assistant" software responded: "82 days."
  • Siri also does dictation, as a microphone icon will appear anytime there is a keyboard on the screen. By tapping the microphone, users can speak rather than type.
  • Siri will come with built-in support for English, French and German. The software will be beta at launch, with more languages and services to be added over time.

Glidetrack Mobislyder Portable Dolly Track For Smartphones Review

A wheeled camera dolly can add smooth tracking motions to your smartphone opus, but if you were hoping to include a dramatic vertical reveal, you'll need the Mobislyder which instead uses a smooth ball bearing track system and it designed specifically for use with smaller cameras, the Mobislyder includes articulated mounts that either screw into the thread mount on the underside of your camera, or clamp onto thinner devices like smartphones. The mounts swivel around so that the glider track can be used at any angle and it weighs just over a pound for amateur auteurs on the go. The example videos show off smooth tracking shots that would be difficult or impossible to achieve by hand and the Mobislyder is currently available for preorder for $135.

MOVE OVER Spielberg and Tarantino, the cinematic style of big movie making has gone viral with the launch of mobislyder, the world's first portable dolly designed specifically for smartphones and compact cameras. The mobislyder, a new innovation from Glidetrack, the world's leading camera slider company, is set to revolutionise mobile device video production. Stylish and ultraportable, the mobislyder has been designed from the ground up to suit a broad range of small video-enabled devices - including iPhone, Android smart phones, smaller DSLR cameras and mini camcorders. As video on demand becomes the medium of choice for businesses and individuals the mobislyder provides professionals and amateurs alike with the ability to create cinematic-style shots. "For years sophisticated-looking camera moves were only available to professionals with big budgets and truck loads of gear. But now, with most camera devices capable of shooting HD video, mobislyder allows operators to take smooth tracking shots fit for the big screen -all with the sweep of a finger," said Alastair Brown, the 43-year-old UK entrepreneur who founded Glidetrack in 2008. The name Glidetrack has now become synonymous with these types of cinematic gliding moves. There are literally thousands of user videos on YouTube and Vimeo created by people using the equipment to enhance the quality of their productions."We have been working on creating a smaller Glidetrack-style piece of equipment suitable for mobile devices such as iPhone and compact cameras for some time but until now the video quality wasn't quite there," said Alastair. "However, with the development of the iPhone 4S and other new generation devices capable of shooting full high definition video we fele the time was right to launch the mobislyder."

The new device, which retails at around £129 ($175 USD) but is being made available at a special launch price of £99 ($135 USD) in the run up to Christmas, is perfect for special occasions such as weddings, concerts, holidays, sports events, social media news reporting and even corporate promotions and PR videos. With more than 200,000 videos uploaded to YouTube and in excess of 1 billion views, every day the demand for good quality user generated content on the web is booming, especially among companies getting to grips with the value of video. Various surveys into the impact of video suggests news releases with video links have a 300 per cent higher retention rate and 500 per cent more views than text only versions. Products promoted with video have reported increased sales of between 17 per cent and 36 per cent. According to the latest industry figures total online video views are on track to grow by some 20% from 640billion last year to around 770billion this year while paid-for online video revenues will reach in excess of $3bn (USD). And with experts predicting sales of smartphones to exceed more than 450million worldwide this year volume is set to increase even more. However, the more videos there are the more demanding and selective viewers are becoming. "The days of shaky video being posted online are gone. People are becoming more demanding about what they watch which means companies or individuals need to improve the quality of their videos and mobislyder can help them do that," added Alastair. "We see mobislyder as becoming the industry standard piece of gear for Ebay sellers, Amazon product videos, Bloggers - in fact anyone wanting to get high quality video on their site without breaking the bank."

IPhone 5 release date is October, according to interviews with the Apple Managerial

Eventually the secret of the iPhone 5 release date have been solved. From the source Bloomberg.com, GadgetPeek have quoted, that there was already a bright spot, when iPhone5 will be released.

Rumors of the iPhone 5 release date of Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 5 have been floating about the Internet since last year, but recent changes to the details of said rumors have iPhone fanatics in a frenzy. Various rumors state that the iPhone 5 will see an imminent release, but not all sources agree that the smartphone will arrive in time to be put on your holiday wish list.

According to Bloomberg.com, sources claim that "Apple plans to introduce a new iPhone in September," but there is skepticism regarding whether this new iPhone will, indeed, be the iPhone 5. In the past, Apple has released upgraded versions of a product before revealing a new, finished product to the public. This knowledge leads some to expect that Apple will follow suit again this year.

Keith Bachman, of BMO Capital Markets, told his clients that the iPhone 5 would be released in mid-2012, "leading others to believe that only a slightly upgraded iPhone 4... will launch this fall instead," according to an article submitted by PCMag.com

All hope, however, is not lost; while there are those who argue that the iPhone 5 release date will not be released this year, there are others who argue that it will be. Unnamed sources in the know claim that the iPhone 5 will be released in October this year, likely later in the month than sooner.

Jamie Bailey, a resident of Houston, TX, is looking forward to the release, whenever it might be.
"I need a new phone," said Bailey, "my iPhone 3G freezes sometimes."
Even with the occasional technical difficulties that she has with her phone, Bailey remains loyal to Apple.
"I like the fact that everything is on [the iPhone]," she said. "No matter where I go and what I'm doing, I have what I need.

Despite the confusion regarding the release date, all rumors regarding the iPhone 5 agree that the new generation will not differ much from the iPhone 4 in design. Those looking to purchase the iPhone 5, however, can anticipate the addition of a faster processor and higher resolution camera.

iPhone 5 will come with three color choices, New Comer : iPhone 5 Red

New Comer : iPhone 5 Red
Right, we just said we don’t believe the guy has what he claims to have. But he’s got something in those pictures, which even if fully fake did take a fair amount of time to come up with. And these things are often based on some sliver of lost-in-translation truth which came from someone who works on an assembly line somewhere who saw something who told someone who bragged to someone else who got the idea to use it for self-publicity purposes.

Along the way, some of the original truth about the product remains intact. Ever wonder why even when supposed product images manage to get almost everything wrong, there’s always that one odd aspect that they got right, and there’s seemingly no way they could have known about it? That’s what the red iPhone 5 image feels like here, and it’s why there’s a puncher’s chance there’s a real one coming…

Things are no longer merely black and white as the iPhone 5 will come in red. In fact you can get a red iPhone 5 right now if you pony up for it, as according to one guy on craigslist, he’s got (stolen) iPhone 5 clone units for sale right now and you can have one for a mere $250. Yeah, we don’t believe him either. Then again, we were highly skeptical when some guy claimed to have found an iPhone 4 prototype in a bar last year, and we all know how that one turned out. Let’s just say that the prospect of a red iPhone 5 is perhaps more interesting than the fact that someone is claiming to be selling iPhone 5 “clone” units which he himself is admitting aren’t even real. Even as Apple has pushed the color boundaries for years with its products like the iPod nano and even the early iMacs, for some reason the company has been content to sit back and play the follower game when it comes to iPhone colors. And this is the first, if oddball, indication that that could be about to change.

The particularly eye opening part is that the craigslist guy doesn’t even appear to know that the red iPhone 5 depicted on his supposed packaging is the biggest part of the story. If he’d made a point of creating the red iPhone 5 idea himself, it would have been so he could use it to draw attention to his claims. But instead there’s no real mention of it. That feels more like someone said to someone “oh by the way, there’s a red one too” and the person on the receiving end of that information opted to include it in the fake mockups but didn’t fully grasp the importance of that information. That’s sketchy as can be, but add it to Apple’s documented affinity for the color red and how it ties into the larger picture, and the odds go up dramatically…

A few years back, U2 lead singer Bono helped create PRODUCT RED which encouraged major corporations to make an all-red version of their existing products, charge the same price tag, and yet give a portion of the proceeds to help Africa. Apple jumped in with a red iPod nano, which it still offers to this day. But the company has never gone that route with the iPhone. The lack of iPad and iPad 2 colors is more understandable, as the eighteen different inventory models generated merely by having white and black options (multiply that by Verizon, AT&T, and wifi-only models, each at three different capacities).

No wonder Apple went with Smart Covers in various colors, then, as the alternative would have been to have hundreds of different iPad variations floating around, making for a retail and inventory nightmare. But the iPhone is a different story. There are only two iPhone 4 capacities, multiplied by black and white colors, for a total of four iPhone 4 units. Double that, of course, thanks to the Verizon and AT&T split models. But if the iPhone 5 is indeed a hybrid model which works with both carriers, then we’re back to four iPhone 5 units total. Add a red model and there are only six units; a mere five if red is reserved for just the high-end iPhone 5 model. That’s an inventory piece of cake compared to where the iPad 2 is right now…

So why wouldn’t Apple do this? Pure inertia, I guess. It’s one of those things that makes too much sense not to do, particularly if the iPhone 4 sticks around in the bargain basement in both black and white. That’ll mean that there’s no color-based incentive to upsell yourself to an iPhone 5 unless it also comes in a third color option on top of black and white. And red suits the bill for a number of reasons. It also gives the iPhone 5 a leg up over competing phones which only come in black and white, the two standard-bearer colors for most smartphones over the past several years.

So even as ludicrous as today’s craigslist “iPhone 5 clone” posting seems (please don’t buy one of those things unless you like the idea of setting $250 on fire), it’s believable that the red iPhone 5 concept depicted within that phony listing could indeed be based on nugget of well thought out truth

How to Activate Video Chat on iPhone or iPad

The new Breakthrough Tinychat video chat aplication, Video chat can be done with 12 friends simultaneously.

How to activate video chat on iPhone or iPad ? Easily.
You can use the video chat application in your iPhone or iPad. Like skype, Fring or Tinychat. These video chat aplication is support and can you use to yours iPhone or iPad. It's free and ready to use.

Skype finally got around to launching a 2-way video chat for the iPad recently, but competitor Fring already has a 4-way video chat app for the iPhone and iPad. But if that’s not good enough for you, Tinychat has you covered with a new app that lets you participate in group video calls with up to 12 people.

Yes. 12. No. I don’t know why you’d want to see 11 of your friends faces in tiny windows on your iPhone screen, but the free app does also support the iPad.

Here’s how it works. You can fire up the free TinychatFB app on your iOS device and it will show you a list of all your Facebook contacts that are online. You can invite any of them to participate in a video chat and Tinychat will send them a link to a website.

Tinychat’s desktop service is entirely browser-based. There’s no software to install. As long as your computer has a camera and a microphone you just visit the web app to participate in video chatrooms that take just a few seconds to setup.

The company’s new mobile app only lets you communicate with your Facebook contacts — not with other Tinychat mobile users. But a future app will add its own contact list and other features that lets you setup and participate in group video calls with or without Facebook.

Are you ready to try ?

iPhone 5 specs and Video Review

(ilustration/google.com)
With the number of leaks that has surrounded the release of the iPhone 5, it is often hard to tell which is fact and which is fiction. Thankfully we have found a video that looks at the percentage probability for the specs of Apple’s upcoming handset, as well as its design, which we know is more of a hot topic than the hardware. We say this because the fifth-generation iPhone can only go so far with its hardware, but it is how it looks that seems to be of the most interest now.

Sticking with this, it seems as though there is a 40 percent likelihood that the new smartphone will have an increased resolution. You might be interested to know that a white iPhone 5 should be launched from the start, as French site Nowhereelse.fr has given it a 100 percent probability. Now on to the camera, the chances of increased megapixles is 80 percent and 50 percent for Full HD 1080p recording.

The idea that the iPhone 5 will keep the same design only has a 30 percent probability, but 70 percent for a new design, which means that this being a minor update looks to be untrue. There have been a number of rumors that suggest that there will now be a low-cost iPhone, and there is an 80 percent chance that the iPhone 4 will be it.

With all the news that Apple had purchased machines to make curved glass it seems fitting that it has a 40 percent prospect of making it to the design of the iPhone 5. We had assumed that NFC would not make it into the new iPhone, so how come there is a 40 percent possibility of it being included in the hardware then?

Voice controls have always been an issue with the current and previous version of the iPhone, so you will be happy to know that enhanced voice controls has an 80 percent probability. We know that the new handset will come with the A5 processor and more than likely increased RAM, but we are a little shocked that there is only a 30 percent chance of an improved battery, which means that it will be down to iOS 5 to do some clever power management. The only thing to get a 100 percent probability is that the iPhone 5 will be announced in September and available between September and October.

Here is iPhone 5 specs Video Review

iPhone 5 battery leak
Since there has been no leaked iPhone 5 this time around – or nobody is willing to pay good money for a lost/stolen iPhone 5 (after what happened to Gizmodo) the iPhone rumour world is clasping onto any little snippet of information.

This evening that information comes from iPhone parts supplier TVC Mall, who has posted images of what it claims to be iPhone battery, camera lens, and earphone audio jack flex cable.

Mac Rumours shows the apparent new parts in comparison to MacFixIt's photographs of the same parts in the iPhone 4. There are very superficial changes between the different units. The so called iPhone 5 battery is a similar shape to the iPhone 4 battery, the main difference being that the specifications listed on the label 3.7V and 5.3Whr on the new battery, while the iPhone 4 part is 3.7V and 5.25Whr, a very minimal change.

The camera module for the back camera also closely resembles iPhone 4's camera, although the flash unit is further away.

Facebook video chat aplication for iPhone, Android and Blackberry

Facebook video chat app for iPhone, Android and Blackberry
For you the owner of the iPhone and Android, as long as it you might looking for a Facebook video chat application for iPhone or facebook video chat applications for Android. But you do not find it.

Facebook Messenger, the social network's new messaging app for iPhone and Android, may soon have a video chat component. Hackers rummaging around in the new smartphone app have discovered traces of a video chat feature that appears to be under development. The hidden service was first reported by 9-to-5 Mac and How To Arena later confirmed similar video chat remnants were in the Android version.

Facebook Messenger Has Hidden Video Chat Feature, The hidden service is in the iPhone and Android versions of the app.Video chat doesn't seem to be functional yet, but it's a pretty good bet Facebook will announce the new feature in the coming months. Facebook announced Messenger on Tuesday for Android and iPhone devices. The new standalone app features instant messaging to friends or groups, and photo and location sharing. Facebook says a BlackBerry video chat app version will be available soon.

Facebook has been hard at work improving the social network's messaging capabilities. In October, the company introduced text-based group chat for the new version of Facebook groups. A month later, Facebook rolled out a redesigned messaging service that saves your Facebook e-mail, SMS and instant messaging in one place. In July, Facebook launched video chat in partnership with Skype for Windows and OS X users. During the Skype announcement, Facebook also made text-based group messaging a standard part of the social network that works outside the new groups feature.

Video chat no surprise
Although it's encouraging to see video chat features buried in Facebook's new messaging apps, the discovery is hardly a surprise. During its Skype announcement in July, Mike Barnes, Skype's product manager for the Facebook video-chat client, told PCWorld that Skype was ready to add mobile video chat to Facebook's service. "Barnes gave me the distinct impression that Facebook will soon be adding both group video chat and mobile video chat in the near future," PCWorld's Mark Sullivan reported in July.

So look for video chat in the near future, and don't be surprised if group video chat shows up, too.

Google introduced a group video chat feature called Hangouts in June as part of its rollout of Google+, the search giant's new social network.

Know what is the advantages IOS 5, Read this

Apple will soon launch a new operating system in iPhone 5 product. iPhone 5 issued will soon be released in September 2011. On the iPhone 5 will use the iOS 5 as operating system.

You may ask what is the advantages iOS 5 compared to previous versions and with other brands. iOS 5 couse have some the advantages, here the advantages of iOS 5:

iOS 5 Will Make Photos Faster and More Fun
The new developer beta of  iOS 5 released last weekend contained a number of new image filters that should let developers manipulate photos much more quickly and easily. That means if you're an iPhone owner, you can expect to see a wealth of new, cheap, photo editing tools for iPhone and iPad. The new effects are part of the iOS 5's Core Image framework, which is designed to make image processing easier on the platform.

The new programming tools will certainly be of use to developers. Even without these new effects and frameworks provided by iOS 5, the iPhone already is the most popular camera on Flickr. This popularity is, at least in part, due to the great photo editing apps that are already available for the iPhone. For instance, popular photo filter app Instragram hit 150 million photos recently in under a year.

However, thus far most of these apps had to create ad hoc solutions with the Core Graphics framework to manipulate photos since iOS didn't have the tools to handle image processing on its own. While that has produced some spectacular effects, creating custom photo filters is also a relatively difficult and complicated task for developers that has discouraged new apps.

The Instagram logoWhile Core Image may make it easier to create competitors for apps like Instagram or Hipstamatic, Developers will also be able to use the new tools in Core Image to stay in the lead.

A more likely possibility is that other app developers will start to integrate photo manipulation into existing social apps like Flickr or Fourquare so you won't need to switch apps or fiddle with your phone the next time you want to upload a photo to Facebook or another social service.

iOS 5 is expected to be released sometime this fall and, thanks to the developer beta that's currently in progress, we can expect a deluge of photo filter apps to follow soon after.

iOS 5 will be a platform much more "social" if it is to earlier versions. Among other features, we can now tweet photos without leaving the camera application, showing where we are and any comments regarding the photo. The same can be done from YouTube or Safari.
Safari, Apple's browser, was also much improved for this release. Now you can save news to read later with included synchronization with other devices, an ideal choice to save a story in the iPhone 4 fastened while riding the subway and then read it in the quiet home iPad 2 Moreover it will enable tabbed browsing "traditional" as with Firefox , Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Update :
iOS 5 know Issues

Apple has just seeded the new beta version of  iOS 5 to developers. This comes after Apple suspended developers accounts which their owners was selling access to iOS 5 Beta.

NOTES AND KNOW ISSUES
The following issues relate to using the 5.0 SDK to develop code.

Accounts

When creating an iCloud account, you can use any Apple ID as long as it is a full email address and not a MobileMe account. If you have a MobileMe account, you can move that account to iCloud. You can find more information on iCloud at: http://developer.apple.com/icloudWhen setting up an iCloud or MobileMe account using the setup assistant and leaving Find My iPhone on, it might actually turn Find my iPhone off after the setup. Please verify in Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendar/YourAccount that Find my iPhone is toggled On after leaving the setup assistant. NEW: Enabling iCloud services in Setup Assistant may not always be saved correctly. After completing Setup Assistant you should visit Settings > iCloud to verify the state of the iCloud account. If you have multiple iCloud or MobileMe accounts configured on the device you should also visit each of those accounts in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar to verify each account.

It is recommended that you disable Bookmarks on multiple accounts. If they are enabled, the results might be undefined.

AirPlay

Starting in iOS 5, video content in applications and websites are AirPlay-enabled by default.iOS 5 supports AirPlay of video via AV Foundation.
Apple TVApple TV Software beta enables users to mirror the contents of an iPad 2 to an Apple TV (2nd generation) using AirPlay. This beta software also enables Photo Stream on Apple TV so users can access photos stored in iCloud. Apple TV Software beta is being provided to test the latest AirPlay functionality with your iOS 5 apps and web sites. If you wish to install Apple TV Software beta on your device, you must first register your device UDID in the iOS Developer Program Portal.

Calendar

Birthday calendars are not currently available via the icloud.com website or in Windows. They will be available in a future release. NEW: The default calendar is still the On My iPhone calendar despite setting up an iCloud account during Setup Assistant. As a workaround, reset the default Calendar after finishing Setup Assistant in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Default Calendar. NEW: Pushing iCloud Calendar data is not working in iOS. To sync your iCloud Calendar, launch the Calendar app or refresh the calendars manually using the Calendars button in the top left corner.

Core Image

Several filters have been added since beta 1.Match data for turn based matches is currently limited to 4 KB of data. NEW: When logging in to Game Center, the password may clear and login may not complete. Trying a second time will succeed. NEW: In this beta, GameKit Invites may fail. As a workaround, try restarting the device.

 iBooksi

Books 1.2.2 may fail to display some text or images in books. Please update to iBooks 1.3 in the App Store.

iCloud Backup

As this is beta software, it is recommended that you do not use the iCloud services to store any critical data or information. If you enable iCloud Backup, automatic backup with iTunes when syncing will be disabled. We also suggest that you manually back up your device with iTunes. Backups made with earlier versions of iOS 5 beta will soon become incompatible, and will no longer be available. It is strongly advised you upgrade to this version of the iOS 5 beta in order to continue backing up your devices. If you encounter errors restoring from a backup, or enabling a backup more than one hour after signing into iCloud, try deleting your iCloud account from Settings and adding it back. If errors persist, please try erasing your device and initiating the restore again.

iCloud Storage

During the iOS 5 beta period, any documents stored on the servers might be purged periodically before GM. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you do not store any critical documents or information on the servers. NEW: Provisioning Profiles no longer need to be enabled for iCloud in the iOS Provisioning Portal. All newly generated provisioning profiles are now automatically enabled for iCloud. If you are using an Xcode managed Team Provisioning Profile, click refresh in the Xcode Organizer to obtain a new iCloud-enabled profile. To enable all other provisioning profiles for iCloud, simply regenerate your profiles in the iOS Provisioning Portal. If your application is using the NSMetadataQuery class, you must set a predicate, even though the predicate itself is ignored. In this beta, the setSortDescriptors: method of NSMetadataQuery is not supported. FIXED: To use iCloud prior to beta 5, you had to manually specify various container identifiers (your application’s Display set) within an Entitlements file for both of your Mac OS X and iOS projects.Starting in beta 5, to enable iCloud storage within your apps, simply click the “Enable Entitlements” checkbox in the Summary pane of your project. Xcode will create a custom entitlements file for your project that automatically includes your Team ID. You can add additional iCloud Container values as required by your application. (Note that you must regenerate your existing provisioning profiles, either with Xcode or in the iOS Provisioning Portal, to use iCloud storage.) If you specify a custom identifier string for your iCloud Key-Value Store or iCloud Container entitlement values, you no longer need to prepend your Team ID to the beginning of the string. Xcode will prepend your Team ID to these entries automaticallyThe container identifier string you pass to the URLForUbiquityContainerIdentifier: method of NSFileManager MUST include the team ID at the beginning of the string. As a convenience, if you pass nil, Foundation uses the first document container ID specified in your app’s entitlements. There are issues using the Cloud Storage document API in conjunction with protected data which can lead to data corruption. FIXED: In this beta, document-based applications cannot always detect when files change, move, or are deleted out from underneath them. In this beta, file presenters (objects that adopt the NSFilePresenter protocol) do not receive some of the messages that they’re supposed to receive, especially: presentedItemDidChangepresentedSubitemDidAppearAtURL:presentedSubitemDidChangeAtURL: You can workaround this by implementing the relinquishPresentedItemToWriter: method and checking to see if the writer actually wrote when your file presenter reacquires. You can also use FSEvents to observe file system changes In this beta, messages about changes to files in a directory are not getting delivered to objects that adopt the NSFilePresenter protocol. While reporting a bug related to the iCloud storage interfaces, please include the logs collected during your debugging session. To generate these logs, you must install a special debug profile on your device. The debug profile can be obtained from http://connect.apple.com. This profile enables the generation of debug logs that are needed to diagnose any problems using iCloud storage. The instructions to collect the logs are: Install the profile. (The easiest way to do this is to mail it to yourself and open the attachment on their device.)

Reproduce the bug.

Sync with iTunes to pull the logs off your device.Attach the logs to your bug report. You can find the logs in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/DeviceName/DiagnosticLogs.These logs can grow large very quickly, so you should remove the profile after you have reproduced the problem and pulled the logs for the bug report. NEW: File names are case-insensitive in OS X but case-sensitive in iOS. This can lead to problems when syncing files between the two. You should take steps on iOS to avoid creating files whose names differ only by case.

iMessagei

Message beta 1 will be unable to communicate with iMessage users on beta 2 or later.iPod NEW: When using the volume buttons on the device, or on headphones, the volume slider in the UI of applications may not update even though the volume level has changed.

iTunes

The version of iTunes that comes with beta 5 cannot sync devices that have the beta 4 software installed. To avoid this problem, do the following: Sync any devices that have beta 4 installed to the version of iTunes that came with beta 4.Upgrade iTunes to the version that comes with beta 5. Connect the device and install the beta 5 software. (Understand that you might see a failure to sync error when you first connect the device.) After installing the beta 5 software, restore from your the backup you made in step 1.Videos purchased from the iTunes Store do not play on a 2nd generation AppleTV over AirPlay with iTunes 10.5.

Location

FIXED: The startMonitoringSignificantLocationChanges method of CLLocationManager does not cause applications to be resumed or launched in the background for significant location change updates. However, if a backup from a previous software version (where an application was monitoring significant location changes) is restored to the device, significant location change monitoring will continue to cause that application to be resumed or launched in the background.

Mail

FIXED: Forwarding a message with attachments included does not attach the file and the message compose screen does not change from “Loading….” NEW: When changing the host name of an email account in settings, blank messages may be seen in the unified inbox. As a workaround, delete and re-add the account instead of changing its host name. Music LibraryFIXED: Some songs are missing their album artwork after changing the device library via syncing.

OpenGL ES

FIXED: In iOS 5.0 beta 4, several OpenGL ES extensions have been moved from the APPLE namespace to the EXT namespace, causing some API to be renamed. The altered extensions are EXT_color_buffer_half_float,EXT_occlusion_query_boolean, EXT_separate_shader_objects, EXT_shadow_samplers, EXT_texture_rg, EXT_debug_label, and EXT_debug_marker.

OTA Software Update

If you are doing an OTA software update, you will need to re-sync your photos with iTunes.”

Personal HotSpot

FIXED: In this beta, iPhone 4 device cannot join personal hotspot even if it is on due to a non functional Wi-Fi tethering on these devices. PhotosFIXED: If you apply red-eye adjustments in iOS, and import your image into the iPhoto seed build, the red-eye adjustments will not appear on that image in iPhoto. As a result, subsequent syncing of your image back to the iOS device from iPhoto will not show the red-eye adjustments. NEW: When restoring photo libraries from an iTunes backup, some photos may not appear in the Photos application after restore. Please back up your photos before updating to iOS Beta 5.

Simulator

Location services are not functional in iOS 4.3 simulator running on Mac OS 10.7 with Xcode 4.2.

Springboard

Push and local notifications for apps appear in the new Notification Center in iOS 5. Notification Center displays notifications that are considered “unread.” In order to accommodate push and local notifications that have no “unread” status, developers can use their application badge count to trigger a clearing of notifications from Notification Center. When an application clears its badge count (by setting it to zero), iOS 5 will clear its notifications from Notification Center. FIXED: iOS 5.0 terminates VoIP applications that are resumed in the background for incoming network traffic with extreme frequency. Developers are encouraged to make sure all incoming data is read from VoIP sockets to avoid this condition. NEW: The UIPrerenderedIcon key (in the Info.plist file) is not honored in this build.

StoreKit

NEW: In-App purchase will not work for developers testing their apps with the iTunes Sandbox. Twitter FIXED: When tweeting your location from Safari and exiting before the location can be established, the location arrow will stay in the status bar. The arrow can be removed by killing Safari from the task switcher.

UI Automation

FIXED: Instruments overwrites the loaded automation script, even if another program is editing it. FIXED: The play and record buttons in the Automation instrument script editor may not work properly after targeting an application that was launched by a trace session and has ended. They may also not work if you target an application that was suspended. If you run into this problem and it persists, you may need to close and reopen the trace document to get back into a functional state. FIXED: When capturing actions into a script using the Automation instrument, interfaces with web views or table cells that contain a high number of off screen elements may take an extremely long time before returning with an expression. The lock () and unlock () functions of UIATarget have been replaced with the lockForDuration () function. Starting in iOS 5 beta 2, you can now trigger the execution of an UI Automation script on an iOS device from the host terminal by using the instruments tool. The command is:

instruments -w -t

When using the cli instruments for UI Automation you can now target the default Automation Template and pass the script and results path into the tool as environment variable options. For example:instruments -w -t /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Instruments/PlugIns/AutomationInstrument.bundle/Contents/Resources/Automation.tracetemplate -e UIASCRIPT
