Download Nova 3 Best Games For Yours iPad, iPhone and Android

The first, and the most important thing to get out of the way is that N.O.V.A. 3 is NOT a freemium title. Gameloft have played the freemium waters, successfully at times, spectacular failures at other times. But let me repeat, N.O.V.A. 3 will not be a freemium title. There will be in-app purchases available for certain things, but they are not required to play or progress through the game. Whew. I know that takes a load off many core gamers minds.

NOVA 3 follows the hero, Kal Wardin, in a fight against extraterrestrial invaders. He will be traveling to the abandoned city of San Francisco as well as to a number of alien planets. This latest sequel will introduce iron sights and aim assistance along with the ability to slow down time for more accurate aiming.

The multiplayer mode will now allow for playable vehicles online, letting multiple players use a mech, jetpack, and war buggy simultaneously. There will also more customization options and in-app purchases. The game is expected to arrive for the iPhone, iPad, and Android in May, while the Xperia-Play version will be released shortly thereafter.

Gameloft has just released the official gameplay trailer for the upcoming NOVA 3, which was teased last week. This sequel to the popular first-person iOS shooter game will make major improvements on the visuals with dynamic lighting and a real physics engine. It will also take advantage of the new iPad’s super high-resolution Retina display.

Acer Iconia Tab A510 Specs and Price

In celebration of the 2012 London Olympics, Acer unveils the Iconia Tab A510. This Special Edition Tablet carries the symbol of the iconic Olympic rings in its design - representing the strength, confidence and possibility that the Olympics stands for. Featuring NVIDIA® Quad-Core performance, the latest Android 4.0 OS and an amazing productivity suite, you can multitask at a new level and surf the web without waiting.

Preloaded entertainment apps like Kindle, Netflix and Google Music keep your entertainment at your fingertips wherever you are. So whether you need to be productive on the go or just want to stay entertained, the Acer Iconia Tab A510 Olympic Edition will keep you at the top of your game.

Fast-forward to the present, and the A500's successor, the A510, is now available. This is more of an incremental update to the A500, as it packs the NVIDIA's powerhouse quad-core Tegra 3 superchip, but the majority of the other specs are nearly identical to its predecessor. That's not necessarily a bad thing here, though - dollar for dollar, this is one of the best tablets I've ever used.

Acer Iconia Tab A510 Specs

If there’s one thing that Acer is so proud of about this device, then that would be the processor. And yes, it is an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core unit clocked at 1.3 GHz. The fact is, it is the highlight of this device and this is where the pride of Acer enters considering it is the first ever quad-core unit it has released ever. Needless to say, the company will do everything just to make it shine in the high-end Android market. The CPU has also been complemented by a 1 GB random access memory (RAM) to ensure all operations are smooth and fast for the owners.

For people looking for portable powerful device, Acer Iconia Tab A510 may not just be the right one for them because it comes with 10.1 inches display and it is apparent it has lost its pocketability factor. But the thing is, it comes with very high resolution at 1280 x 800 pixels featuring multi-touch and capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors.

Its camera, however, is not as impressive as most people think because it only has 5 megapixels. Obviously, Acer didn’t build this device for shooting photos, instead it was built for extensive entertainment purposes. And that is evident when you look at its battery with 9800 mAh that could power the device up to 12 to 13 hours of continuous video playback or 15 to 16 hours of straight talk time.

Acer Iconia Tab A510 Specs Details and key features:

Acer Iconia Tab A510 Price

Let’s talk about Acer Iconia Tab A510 Price for a while. Acer Iconia Tab A510 Price is offered for $449.00 and I think it is just right. Other major manufacturers offer their quad-core devices for more than $600 per unit and we believe that the production cost would be as expensive.

But with Acer releasing a high-end unit for just $450, we now know that the production costs of the devices having these specs are way lower than what we expect. At least, with this device we know that some of the manufacturers are over-pricing their units. And considering it will come with the latest Android version (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) I believe we are lucky enough or blessed to buy this device.

The Best T-mobile/AT&T Phone 2012 For Your Buying Guide

Alongside its more traditional plans and Flexible Boosters, T Mobile/AT&T has announced the Full Monty plan. Laid bare, the plan offers truly unlimited calls, texts and data.

Should you need it, the last of those is tether-able, a massive bonus in today's data-centric world. On top of that is unlimited use of T-Mobile and BT Openzone Hotspots.

For others who do not require so much, Pay Monthly plans come with an "Unlimited Booster". These provide either unlimited texts, landline calls or T Mobile calls and are interchangeable.

With these plans, there are four data options; None, Basic, Standard and Extra. Basic Internet provides a mere 250MB of mobile browsing a month to cater for the more occasional user.

This increases to 750MB and 1.5GB as you move up, but also thrown in, both the Standard and Extra plans do throw in a further 3GB of Wi-Fi data.

Fixed plans are also around for those who frequently overspend, or parents of those who do. Working as a mixture of contract and Pay As You Go, these plans not only stop you from going over your limits, they come with a range of Flexible Boosters to change as you want.

Samsung Galaxy S2

This isn't the first time we've said it and doubtless we'll say it again, despite being almost a year old, but Samsung really developed a smashing bit of kit. The Super AMOLED Plus screen provides an amazing face backed by a zippy processing heart will keep the S2 going strong for some time to come.

The HTC One X has bounded onto the scene, and with its HD screen, NFC capabilities and quad-core processor it really is one of the top phones of the moment.

Nokia Lumia 800

Despite maybe pursuing Symbian for a bit longer than we'd have liked, Nokia has always been a brand you could expect to make a high end bit of kit. We were not left disappointed with the Lumia 800. Its quick and responsive, and the addition of Windows Phone 7.5 is taking Nokia back towards where it once stood - albeit a little slower than the Finnish firm might have liked.

Apple iPhone 4S

Like the aforementioned Galaxy S2, this is a phone that we have mentioned once or twice before. Its rather difficult not to though, as it has a swift dual core processor and stunning Retina Display supported by well regulated and well stocked App store. It might not be the revolutionary device like the original, but with what it brings to the market, it didn't need to be.

Panasonic Advanced Radar Technology For Next-Generation Traffic Safety Systems Review

Panasonic details radar-based technology that can detect collisions in low light, ew millimeter-wave radar technology can detect humans, vehicles and other outdoor objects that are several tens of meters in range and it can also detect objects even in the poorest of visibility conditions, especially during night time, or when there is rain and snow, and even in direct sunlight exposure. Since humans tend to reflect weaker radar signals than cars, Panasonic has designed a new pulse radar code sequence that allows pedestrians to leave a bigger footprint and the comapany claims that it can detect bystanders up to 40 meters (131 feet) away.

Panasonic Corporation announced it has developed an advanced radar technology for next-generation traffic safety systems that enables to detect humans and vehicles in a range of several tens of meters. This millimeter-wave radar technology allows for detecting objects outdoors in poor visibility conditions, such as night, rain and snow, as well as against the sunlight. When applied in traffic surveillance sensors located at intersections, this innovative technology will help increase automotive safety by detecting pedestrians and bicycles hidden in the driver's blind spots. As accidents at intersections account for about a half of all traffic fatalities, preventive measures are required to avoid collisions there involving cars, pedestrians and cyclists. Panasonic's new radar technology enables traffic monitoring sensors at intersections to detect pedestrians and bicycles up to 40 meters ahead even at nighttime and under bad weather conditions that hinder the driver's visibility. By alerting the driver of the presence of pedestrians in the crosswalk or bicycles in blind spots, this technology helps to reduce the driver's burden and traffic accidents. Panasonic's new automotive radar technology has overcome the difficulties with conventional millimeter-wave radar technologies; the advanced radar technology is capable of detecting humans and cars simultaneously in spite of the fact that human body reflects extremely weak radar signals compared with car body. This innovative radar technology has also achieved high detection performance with a range resolution of less than 50cm and an angular resolution of 5 degrees, which enables to detect pedestrians and vehicles. Furthermore, unlike optical and infrared cameras and laser sensors, whose detection performance can be significantly affected by visibility conditions, this new radar technology will not be subject to such conditions as nighttime, rain, snow or dense fog.

With regard to millimeter-wave radars, there presently exist radars for vehicle to measure distance to the vehicle in front. However, these radars cannot detect human body with high resolution due to very weak radar reflection of human body. In addition, an optical camera is commonly used as a traffic surveillance sensor. However, it cannot work well under certain conditions such as nighttime because it can provide almost the same information as the human eye can capture. Panasonic has achieved the new radar technology as part of the "Research and Development Project for Expansion of Radio Spectrum Resources" supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan. The company will demonstrate the technology at VTC (Vehicular Technology Conference) 2012-Spring (May 7 to 9 in Yokohama, Japan), using a test equipment with an experimental radio license. On the new radar technology, Panasonic holds eighteen patents in Japan and six patents overseas including pending applications. Panasonic has developed and incorporated the following new element technologies to realize the new millimeter-wave radar technology for automotive applications:
  • Coded pulse modulation technique that employs a newly designed code sequence for pulse radar method to improve sensitivity characteristics, thereby achieving extension of the detection range and finding out small objects that have weak radar reflection.

  • Adaptive antenna technique that combines radar beamforming transmission and adaptive array antenna reception with signal processing algorism for estimation of target direction, thereby achieving high angle resolution even with a smaller antenna compared with conventional one.

Amazon's Q1 2012 earnings: net sales at $13.18 billion

It's no Apple-sized quarter, but you'd need to be on HGTV's Million Dollar Rooms a handful of times over to scoff at Amazon's Q1 2012 earnings. After reporting $177 million in net earnings last quarter (on $17.43 billion in revenue), the online sales behemoth has today registered $13.18 billion in net sales -- proudly reporting that said tally was up from the $9.86 billion in its Q1 a year ago.

Excluding the $56 million unfavorable impact from year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates throughout the quarter, net sales would have grown 34 percent compared with first quarter 2011. As for operating income? That checked in at $192 million (compared to $322 million Q1 2011), with the outfit noting that the "unfavorable impact from year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates throughout the quarter on operating income was $4 million." Net income also sank 35 percent from $201 million a year ago, but it still left Amazon with $130 million more in the bank than it had just three months ago.

It's important to note that the outfit didn't have "the holidays" here to help out, but it's still a bit worrisome to investors when profit margin shrinks. Focusing on more positive things, CEO Jeff Bezos noted that Amazon has "over 130,000 new, in-copyright books that are exclusive to the Kindle Store," again reminding the world that Amazon Prime members can "borrow them for free with no due dates.

" We're also told that the Kindle Fire remains the top, most gifted and most wished for product across its entire store, while pointing out that the North American sales segment was up 36 percent from Q1 2011 (reaching $7.43 billion). Our overseas comrades -- specifically, Amazon's UK, German, Japanese, French, Chinese, Italian and Spanish sites -- accounted for $5.76 billion in sales, up 31 percent year-over-year. Worldwide media sales saw a 19 percent uptick to $4.71 billion, while global electronics and "other merchandise" saw sales grow a whopping 43 percent to $7.97 billion. Notably, the company continually banged on unfavorable exchange rates, so if you're looking for a place to heap blame... well, there you go.

Looking ahead to the company's Q2, we're told that net sales are expected to remain flat or dip slightly compared to this quarter, with totals to hover between $11.9 billion and $13.3 billion. Though, that would represent a 20 to 34 percent increase compared with second quarter 2011. Unfortunately, Amazon's actually forecasting an operating loss between $260 million and $40 million compared to Q2 2011, and we're told that this "guidance includes approximately $260 million for stock-based compensation and amortization of intangible assets, and it assumes, among other things, that no additional business acquisitions or investments are concluded and that there are no further revisions to stock-based compensation estimates." Cue the sad trombone?

Samsung Galaxy S III Specs and Price

The new Samsung Galaxy S III which has a 720p screen, quad-core Exynos processor and the Ice Cream Sandwich Android software is tipped to be one of the best selling phones in 2012. With a flurry of Samsung Galaxy S III rumours hitting the web on a now daily basis, the German arm of online retail giant Amazon has gone one further making the next-generation Android handset available for pre-order ahead of the handset’s official release date.

Samsung Galaxy S III Release Date

Originally widely expected to be the showpiece of MWC 2012, just before the Barcelona based show Samsung confirmed that it would hold off the Samsung Galaxy S III release until later in the year. “The successor to the GALAXY S II smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product,” an official spokesperson for the Korean tech giant announced.

Since Samsung’s disappointing revelation, the Galaxy S III launch has become a thing of much speculation with the tech giant earlier this week issuing official event invites to the launch of a “new Galaxy” event for May 3rd, an event widely expected to see the S III enter the realms of reality.

The Galaxy S III comes in black and in white and will be released first in Europe, starting at the end of this month. Samsung has not announced an official price.

Samsung Galaxy S III Specs

The Galaxy S III features a 1280 by 720 AMOLED screen, like the Galaxy S II HD LTE, has a 8 megapixel rear camera, and 1.9 megapixel front camera. The Galaxy S III also features voice command integration, dubbed S Voice and the phone’s front camera can identify when you are reading by watching your eyes and adjust the brightness as needed. I wonder what the battery life would be like with the camera constantly watching for your eyes.

The Galaxy S III runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The phone will support 3G and 4G networks, WiFi a/b/g/n, near field communication, and Bluetooth 4.0. The phone includes extras from Samsung like the S Beam and the S Voice feature. S Beam is an enhanced version of Google’s Android Beam close range data sharing solution; By pressing two Galaxy S IIIs together (using near field communication), Samsung claims you can transfer a 1GB movie file in three minutes and 10 MB of music in an impressive two seconds.

N-Control Avenger Elite With Classic Look Review

The N-Control announced an additional controller spec's latest version of the Avenger Elite, the manufacturers are strange creatures surprisingly well received by the public and the profession, so it was decided to further refine the concept. The Avenger Elite Operation now requires even less effort and the controllers made accessory that completely transforms the basic structure is enmeshed in the individual keys and access to arms. N-Control Avenger Elite due for release later this month, the PS3 version 48.99 and the Xbox 360-compatible variant immediately and costs $ 49.99.

David Kotkin, the founder of N-Control, the company that manufactures and markets the Avenger Controller, an adapter for the PS3 and Xbox 360 announced the launch of the Avenger Elite. The company's new product is expected to be popular with gamers worldwide. The Avenger Elite is expected to be released at the end of this month. Earlier models of the Avenger Controller were well received by gamers and reviewers for gaming publications. The AE remains fully legal for professional gaming competition, as well giving amateur gamers the chance to up their game. According to Kotkin, "The Avenger Elite adapter may look a lot like previous versions of the Avenger but it represents a major leap forward for what was already a very advanced product. Using extraordinary new alloys and metals made in America specifically for the Elite, the new Avenger also makes use of medical grade nano technology and a new military grade precision hair trigger kit." Media coverage of the Avenger Controller #1 has been uniformly positive. The latest review on the ijustine YouTube video from Spike Network's Game Trailers is representative of the kudos the Avenger has received from reviewers: http://avengercontroller.com/2012/03/17/ijustine-loves-the-avenger-controller/ Kotkin expects the reviews of the AE to be even more positive. The wired arms after being set will not have to be adjusted again. The silicone rubber is more tactile and makes the unit uniquely responsive. "The hair trigger is even more sensitive to the touch than in previous versions. The special military grade black elastic silicone stretch provides simple solution for what had been a complex problem," says Kotkin.

"I call it the perceived exertion effect. Your hands feel five times stronger than they actually are. Very little effort is needed to press the triggers. You can easily adjust the sensitivity of the trigger to your own comfort level. Nothing else comes close to providing speed and accuracy with even the slightest touch. The new trigger is closer to the firing point than ever thought possible," says Kotkin."The AE remaps buttons so they are closer to the shooter's fingers. The new spring against spring action on the triggering device creates a bounce  effect that makes the second trigger pull easer than the first. It's possible for quicker reaction time for the shooter and provides less trigger travel and greater accuracy." According to N-Control, the AE has an easy learning curve. The side levers have been re-shaped on the new models so that ergonomic position is more comfortable N-Control is continually improving the quality of its products. The Avenger Elite is an example of its commitment to upgrade its products for better performance on a regular basis. Ready to work right out of box, the Avenger Elite is perfect for playing shooter platforms like Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty, as well as many popular sports-based games. Avenger is legal in MLG competition because there is no electric component to it. The warranty of the controllers is not voided and there is no software change. "We are on GameStop on line store for pre purchase. This is one big step to becoming main stream." says Kotkin.

PS3 Best Buy At GameStop, Available Price For $199.99

Although Sony hasn’t officially cut the price of the PS3 (PlayStation 3) since last fall, GameStop has taken it upon itself to slash the cost of the system to the magic sub-$200 mark. The retailer now lists the 160 GB version of the Sony console as being available for $199.99. That is $50 less than Sony’s manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $249.99. The cheapest place in the country to buy a new PS3 right now is GameStop.

Now, GameStop has not put out any sort of press release about this, and being that the retail world is incredibly fickle, this could be some sort of temporary price drop or a promotion or just some sort of test for corporate to see how it affects sales. But for the time being, $200 is what you’ll be paying for a PS3 at any GameStop store across the country or on its website. No coupons, no gimmicks, nothing like that.

Given that video game equipment is known to have razor thin margins, it’s incredibly likely that GameStop is taking some sort of hit on every PS3 that it sells for $200, but it if it can peddle something like an extended warranty or some other high-margin service to customers, then it could end up being a profitable sale. Of course, that’s just retail 101.

The real question is if GameStop knows a secret and is trying to sell of inventory before a major Sony announcement happens. But who knows, really? If you’ve been wanting a PS3, all you need to know is it’s only $200 at this very moment.

Barclaycard PayTag, The NFC-Enabled Card You Glue To Your Phone Review

Barclaycard has launched a stick-on credit card, which will allow its 12 million customers the chance to make wave-and-pay purchases from their mobile phone or other item of their choice. The PayTag is a quarter of the size of a traditional credit card and will sit unobtrusively on any mobile handset or other item, which hopes the move will trigger the mass take-up of contactless payments that has so far proved elusive. he PayTag is an extension of a customer’s credit card account that can be used to make payments of £15 and under, though the limit will rise to £20 in June and the PayTag will be released to a select group of customers in the coming weeks with mass availability coming later this year.

Barclaycard announced the launch of Barclaycard PayTag, a new way to pay with your mobile telephone. Millions of Barclaycard customers will be offered the chance to make payments with any mobile phone by simply sticking a Barclaycard PayTag to the back of their handset. Available at no cost, and exclusively to Barclaycard Visa cardholders, Barclaycard PayTag is an extension of a customer’s credit card account. At a third of the size of a normal card, it can be discreetly and simply stuck to the back of any mobile phone. Once attached, it can be used to make payments of £15 and under, rising to £20 in June, by simply being held over a contactless payment terminal. David Chan, CEO of Barclaycard Consumer Europe, said: “Today, we are offering the choice of mobile payments to millions of our customers at no additional cost to them. More than half of us say that the item we’re most lost without is our mobile phone, so we’re giving people the option of using them to make easy, convenient, everyday payments without the need to upgrade their current handset.” The announcement comes as Visa predicts that the number of contactless point-of-sale terminals in the UK will rise by 50% to 150,000 this year. Major retailers that offer, or are introducing, contactless include Waitrose, McDonalds, Boots, WH Smith and Tesco. By the end of 2012, London buses will also accept contactless payments, followed by the Tube and the rest of the transport network in the Capital in 2013.

Barclaycard PayTag is safe and secure, and comes with the same 100% fraud protection as any Barclaycard. An exclusive group of customers will be invited to receive their Barclaycard PayTag in the coming weeks, before they are offered to millions of Barclaycard customers later in the year. David Chan, adds: “Barclaycard is developing a wide range of initiatives which will ultimately enable everyone to enjoy the benefits of mobile payments. Barclaycard PayTag is another milestone on our journey to make paying easier, and sits alongside other easy ways to pay with your mobile such as those we offer in partnership with Orange.” Last week Barclaycard and Orange announced that credit or debit card holders from all UK banks would be able to load money onto Barclaycard’s mobile payments application, in the Quick Tap wallet. This will open up the opportunity for contactless payments to more Orange customers. Orange also confirmed that it would be making Quick Tap available on a range of Android smartphones, with the first to be announced in the coming weeks. Research carried out on Barclaycard’s behalf predicts that £3 billion worth of purchases will be made with mobile phones in the UK in 2016. Barclaycard PayTag provides customers with the choice of simple mobile phone payments now, without having to wait to upgrade, and at no additional cost.

Cheapest Tablet: Xtex My Tablet 7 Specs and Price

There’s a new Android tablet that’s on the low end in terms of price, but based on its technical specs you’d never know it. A company called Xtex has developed one of the cheapest Android tablets on the market: Xtex My Tablet 7, yet somehow it is also one of the most feature-rich at the same time.

Xtex is a New York-based firm that created the most affordable tablet in the USA, going for a mere $150. The My Tablet 7 is a 7 inch entry level device that’s already up for direct order through its maker. The specs aren’t half bad, I’ll give you that much: 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1.5 GHz processor, 16 GB of storage, SD storage extra, 1 GB of RAM and a 2 megapixel camera at the front. There’s even an HDMI port in the mix, with support for 1080p output, plus a full USB port and a min USB one.

The OS of choice is Android 4.0.3 ICS and the only downside to the product is the low resolution, other than that everything is peachy. The only thing I’m curios about is if Xtex makes its own devices of if they’re made in China and rebranded in the USA… it would be nice if they made their own gear.

Camera Canon Cinema EOS C500 Specs and Price

It's been a few months since we've last seen Canon's first Cinema EOS model, but the Camera Canon Cinema EOS C500  has a look and feel that seems to be only subtly different from the C300.

It is noticeably heavier, likely due to the additional cooling gear on board to accommodate 4K shooting. Both flavors include dual CF card slots, which you'll only be able to use for snapping 1080p video, 4K is fed to an external recorder through the dual 3G-SDI ports, which for obvious reasons you won't find on the C300.

EOS C500 has been designed to focus motion picture. This camera can be used in digital production industries which is good for high resolution. This camera can capture video with sampling rate of 4:4:4. It supports12-bit RGB 2K capture as well.

Camera Canon Cinema EOS C500 Specs

  • EF and PL mounts
  • 120 frames per second
  • 2K footage
  • 2,048 x 1,080 pixels resolution
  • 12-bit 4:4:4 sampling

Camera Canon Cinema EOS C500 Price

Further details regarding the Cinema EOS C500/C500 PL digital cinematography cameras – including specifications and pricing – have yet to be decided, although preliminary plans are for a suggested list price of approximately $30,000+. Plans also call for these new products to be launched later this year.

In addition to targeting a swift launch of these cameras, Canon will continue to enhance other components of its Cinema EOS System product lineup, which is designed to contribute to the continued advancement of tools for visual expression and the development of cinematic culture.

World's First LCD Panels Incorporating Retina-Resolution IGZO Oxide Semiconductors Review

Sharp will encourage the application of its new high-resolution LCD panels to high-definition notebook PCs and LCD monitors, which are both expected to grow in demand—as well as to mobile devices and this announcement further explained that the LCDs in production are the world’s first panels to incorporate IGZO oxide semiconductors. Sharp has converted Kameyama Plant No. 2, which had previously been used to create advanced LCD panels for televisions to produce small to medium-size screens for smartphones and other mobile devices and with an official company statement that Sharp is producing IGZO displays for mobile devices, expect to see plenty of rumors resurfacing that Apple's iPhone, iPad, and perhaps even iMacs and a television set, could all be using Sharp's IGZO displays.

In March 2012 at Kameyama Plant No. 2, Sharp began producing the world's first high-performance LCD panels incorporating IGZO oxide semiconductors. Sharp is expanding production scale through April to meet market demand. Kameyama Plant No. 2 first started operations in August 2006, manufacturing highly advanced LCD panels for TVs. Production systems have subsequently been reorganized to focus on producing small- and medium-sized LCD panels for the world's rapidly growing smartphone and tablet terminal markets. Employing advanced IGZO oxide semiconductors enables Sharp to produce LCDs with smaller thin-film transistors and increased pixel transparency, thus allowing for lower energy consumption. In addition, proprietary UV2A*3 photo-alignment technology employed in Sharp's AQUOS LCD TVs enables these displays to achieve high image quality. Sharp will encourage the application of its new high-resolution LCD panels to high-definition notebook PCs and LCD monitors-which are both expected to grow in demand-as well as to mobile devices. Sharp will also contribute to creating markets for attractive new products. Sample specifications of LCD panels incorporating IGZO :
  • For LCD Monitors Display size 32 inches : No. of pixels 3,840 x 2,160 ; Pixel density 140 ppi
  • For High-Definition Notebook PCs Display size 10 inches : No. of pixels 2,560 x 1,600 ; Pixel density 300 ppi
  • For Tablet Terminals Display size 7 inches : No. of pixels 800 x 1,280 ; Pixel density 217 ppi

Intel Solid-State Drive 910 Series Review

Intel has officially entered the Enterprise PCIe SSD market with the release of their 910 Series SSD, available in 400 and 800GB capacities, this half-height PCIe 2.0 8x card boasts over 180,000 4k IOPS and 2GB/sec sequential on reads. Writes are roughly half of that - limited by the 25W PCIe spec power available to the card, but since many server motherboards have no issue providing a bit more power (28W), those numbers can be boosted to ~120,000 4k IOPS and 1.5GB/sec via end-user reconfiguration possible through the Intel management software and the 910 is not all-Intel in its construction. Intel SSD 910 is based on 25nm MLC NAND Flash, which is a triple-layer stack of NAND chips that fits into a single PCI-Express slot and communication between the four controllers is handled by the PCI-to-SAS (Serial Attached SATA) bridge chip hiding underneath a heatsink. It offer sequential performance of 2,000MB/s read and 1,000MB/s write and bnoth the 400GB ($1,929) and 800GB ($3,859) models will be available mid-year.

News Highlights:
  • PCIe-based 400GB and 800GB Intel SSD 910 Series provides extreme performance, endurance and reliability for rigorous data center demands.
  • Intel SSD 910 Series offers easy-to-install, seamless post-deployment server storage upgrade with no changes to existing server design.
  • Intel High Endurance Technology, Intel SSD 910 offers 10 full drive writes a day for 5 years for 30x endurance.

Intel Corporation introduced the Intel Solid-State Drive 910 Series (Intel SSD 910 Series), a super high-performing SSD to address rigorous data center storage demands driven by cloud computing, virtualization and online transactions. The Intel SSD 910 Series delivers accelerated storage performance, endurance and reliability critical to today’s data center performance applications. It includes Intel High Endurance Technology and optimized multi-level cell (MLC) 25-nanometer NAND flash memory, that allows up to 10 full drive writes a day for 5 years, or a 30x endurance improvement over its standard MLC-based flash products, for a cost-effective storage solution. The Intel SSD 910 is PCIe-based and offers an easy-to-install, seamless post-deployment server storage upgrade that requires no changes to existing server design. It can be used in storage tiering and caching of hot files for high-performance processing and access to mission-critical data. One Intel 910 SSD can replace multiple 15K rpm hard disk drives (HDDs) to not only save on space and power consumption, but also improve sequential performance and storage scalability and reduce latencies. It is built using an Intel controller and Intel SSD management firmware. The firmware is optimized for less wear and includes NAND error reduction and system error management.

“The Intel SSD 910 Series is a complete solution that delivers on all fronts: high performance, endurance and reliability, making it ideal for replacing I/O-intensive HDDs,” said Roger Peene, director of data center SSD marketing for the Intel Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group. “As a leader in SSD technology, data center IT professionals can have confidence in a tier-one, easy-to-install SSD solution backed by Intel quality, reliability and technical support.” “Supermicro works closely with leading technology companies so we can offer our customers Data Center Optimized (DCO) server solutions with the highest performance and highest efficiency,” said Tau Leng, general manager of High Performance Computing at Super Micro Computer Inc. “With the Intel SSD 910, server systems can achieve higher levels of CPU utilization to take advantage of increased processing power from advanced products like the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 Series. HTC One V Image

HTC One V running Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, with HTC’s Sense 4.0 on top. Normally you’d be able to pinch to reveal all your homescreens, but HTC has disabled that on this phone. Graphical transitions on opening folders aren’t the nice, fluid motion we’ve seen on the One X or One S either.

HTC One V Price

If you're in UK and interested in a handset that's reminiscent of the product of a tryst 'twixt Jimmy Hill, Jay Leno and an HTC Legend, then you'll be delighted to hear that the HTC One V is now available to pre-order from the Carphone Warehouse.

It's free if you plump for a two-year deal costing you £20.50 a month and it'll be winging its way to your greasy palms the week of April 23rd, unfortunately without the bottle of bleach necessary to wipe that Jimmy Hill / Jay Leno image from your mind, sorry.

Windows 8 On Apple iPad Via Win8 Metro Testbed Powered By Splashtop Review

Windows 8 is still months away, but there’s a significant challenge that Microsoft faces when it comes to attracting developers of popular tablet apps to its platform and besides convincing the makers of iOS or Android tablet apps that it’s worth the investment of their time to turn them into Metro apps for Windows 8 tablets. Remote desktop software maker Splashtop is opening up its new iOS app, the rather clunkily named Win8 Metro Testbed, which will allow app developers to test their apps before the official launch in a Windows 8 environment on an iPad and on the target Windows 8 system, you download and install the small (15.7 MB) streamer file, making the connection requires that you set up an alphanumeric passcode of at least 8 characters and after you tap the computer name on the iPad and enter the passcode, you can get to work. Splashtop’s Win8Metro Testbed isn’t cheap by App Store standards: The regular price is $49.99, though it will be discounted for a limited time at $24.99, but it’s certainly more affordable than a new piece of hardware.

Splashtop Inc., the worldwide leader in cross-device computing released "Win8 Metro Testbed – powered by Splashtop," a remote desktop app that allows software developers and technology enthusiasts to simulate a Windows 8 environment on an iPad. By using Win8 Metro Testbed, developers can test native Metro UI touch gestures on an iPad as they code and compile new apps on their Windows PC. On March 1, 2012, Microsoft tweeted that its Consumer Preview of Windows 8 was downloaded one million times in just 24 hours, and since then millions more have been downloaded. Now with the "Win8 Metro Testbed – powered by Splashtop," a Windows 8 app developer who has an iPad can avoid incurring the extra cost of a Windows tablet, which can run upwards of $1,000. "Since Apple's App Store generates over 80% of all tablet app revenue, nearly every software developer that writes apps for tablets has an iPad," noted Mark Lee, Splashtop CEO and co-founder. "With Windows 8 Metro expected to ship on over 400 million new PCs and tablets annually, these developers have high expectations for an enormous new market. Splashtop lets them turn their iPad into a development testbed to evaluate touch gestures and functionality of their app in a Windows 8 environment." Win8 Metro Testbed can be downloaded for a special launch promotion price of $24.99 USD (regular price of $49.99 USD) from the iTunes App Store at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/win8-metro-testbed-powered/id514878988?ls=1&mt=8

The Win8 Metro Testbed enables native Windows 8 Metro touch gestures, including the ability to:

  • Swipe from the right to view the Charms menu
  • Swipe from the left to switch apps
  • Swipe left/right in Internet Explorer to move between pages
  • Swipe down to bring up additional menus
  • Swipe down on an item to select it
  • Pull down from the top to close an app
  • Swipe slowly from the left to run two apps side-by-side ("snapping")
  • Swipe from left-and-back to show running apps
  • Pinch to navigate files, folders, apps and data with Semantic Zoom and more!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Price in USA

Samsung has announced its new 7-inch tablet which runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it is called the Galaxy Tab 2. It image suggests that this device will be running Samsung TouchWiz UI over Android ICS, however we would now the major changes in the UI later after the launch of the device.

According to Cnet, Today at a Samsung media event in San Francisco, the company unveiled pricing and release dates for both its Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablets. We took a brief look at both tablets at Mobile World Congress in February, but this is the first time they've been officially shown in the U.S.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will be released on April 22 for $250 with 8GB of storage. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 follows a few weeks later on May 13 at a price of $400 for 16GB of storage.

samsung galaxy tab 2 image
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Image
While the $400 price for the Tab 2 10.1 still seems a bit too expensive given its specs, I am pleasantly surprised at the $250 price for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, which puts it in Kindle Fire price territory, with cameras!

The tablets are being billed as lower-priced successors to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, both released last year.

Each Wi-Fi-only tablet ships with the latest version of the Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich and includes an as yet unidentified 1GHz dual-core CPU bolstered by 1GB of RAM.
