The advantage of Android, the best operating system today

According to NPD, Android was running on 52 percent of all the smartphones sold in the U.S. last quarter, overshadowing iOS, which secured 29 percent market share. BlackBerry OS came in third in the smartphone space with 11 percent share, NPD said. Windows Phone 7, Windows Mobile, and WebOS all trailed with less than 5 percent market share each.

NPD's findings follow a similar report earlier this month from research firm Gartner. That company, which analyzed worldwide smartphone sales, said that Google's platform captured 43.4 percent of the OS market during the second quarter, up from 17.2 percent during the same period last year. Symbian came in second in Gartner's study with 22.1 percent share, followed by iOS at 18.2 percent. RIM's BlackBerry OS tallied 11.7 percent share worldwide.

Android Mobile Phone
Although NPD didn't dig into each vendor's market share on the quarter, the company did discuss Motorola Mobility. The research firm said that the handset maker's overall mobile-phone market share declined in the second quarter from 12 percent last year to 9 percent this year. In the smartphone space, Motorola Mobility's share dropped from 15 percent to 12 percent. Perhaps most concerning for the company, its Android market share hit 22 percent during the period, down from the 44 percent ownership it had during the second quarter of 2010.

That said, things might soon change for Motorola. Earlier this month, Google announced that it had agreed to acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. The companies expect the deal to be completed by the end of this year or early next year. When that happens, NPD says, Motorola could find the reprieve it needs as it tries to keep up with a host of competitors, including Samsung and LG.

"Much as it did in the feature phone market in the RAZR era, Motorola is experiencing increased competition from Samsung and LG in the smartphone market," NPD's executive director of industry analysis, Ross Rubin, said of Motorola. "Closer ties to the heart of Android can help inspire new paths to differentiation."

However, for Google, its acquisition might have more to do with patents than anything else. The search giant and its vendor partners are being targeted from all sides by competitors that are launching lawsuits against Android, thanks to their stronger mobile patent portfolios. Google is being sued by Oracle, while Microsoft and Apple are taking aim at HTC, Samsung, Barnes & Noble, and others.

In a recent blog post, Google's chief legal officer, David Drummond, targeted those companies, saying that they are launching lawsuits based on "bogus patents." Those lawsuits, Drummond said, are only proving to stifle innovation in the mobile space.

"But Android's success has yielded something else: a hostile, organized campaign against Android by Microsoft, Oracle, Apple, and other companies, waged through bogus patents," Drummond wrote in the post. "Patents were meant to encourage innovation, but lately they are being used as a weapon to stop it."

Now, it seems, Google might soon have its own weapon to stop the patent lawsuits it takes so much issue with. Rubin said today that "Google's acquisition of Motorola shifts the balance of power in the handset-patent conflict between Google and its operating system competitors."

Google's Android mobile operating system dominated the U.S. smartphone market last quarter, research firm NPD announced today.

Aside from lawsuits, Rubin said that other Android vendors, worried that they will be hurt by Google's Motorola Mobility acquisition, shouldn't be concerned. He said that the operating system "has made for a larger pie" that allows everyone to benefit from its success.

The advantages of iOS 5 beta 6, download and instal iOS 5 beta 6 software update

iOS 5 beta 6
Are you still using the old version of iOS ? Apple today has released iOS 5 beta 6 to developers, which is available either OTA or via the Apple Developer Portal.

Apple have officially released the sixth beta version of iOS 5 to developers marking a step towards the mass rollout of the operating system to users around the world.

This update comes just two weeks after iOS 5 beta 5 was rolled out and according to screenshots; the latest build offers bug fixes and other improvements. Those with an Apple developer’s ID can download the beta version immediately.

The advantages of iOS 5 beta 6
Compared to the previous version, iOS 5 beta 6 have the advantages to improve deficiencies in the old version. The advantages of iOS 5 beta 6 certainly adds to our profit for iOS 5 beta 6 users.

It's that time again. Right on schedule (with "on schedule" meaning "roughly 2 weeks since the last one"), Apple has just released the sixth Beta build of iOS 5 to developers. You know what that means: developers, get to updating (Remember: OTA updates work now!) Non-developers pretending to be developers, carry on (Just don't be a jerk and go reviewing applications.) And everyone else. Be happy to know that iOS 5 is one big ol'step closer to going gold and hitting your handset.

The update contains bug fixes and improvements, weighing in at 144 MB. This is yet another step towards the consumer release of iOS 5, which was promised by the fall. By all accounts, it appears Apple is well on their way to delivering iOS 5 by early fall.

Though most are just crackin’ into iOS 5 beta 6 right this second, we’re not hearing much in terms of new stuff here, it’s mostly bug fixes and itty bitty spots of polish at this point. Which, of course, makes sense: Apple’s presumably nearing the end of the Beta phase here, so it’s less about adding new stuff and more about making sure everything that’s in there works as expected.

New beta version offers bug fixes and other improvements
Now, download and instal iOS 5 beta 6 software update and look the advantages of iOS 5 beta 6

Update :
According to a report by Mac Rumors , Apple has also released a new beta of iTunes 10.5 as well as a preview version of Xcode 4.2 that is designed to support the latest iOS firmware. The report goes on to state that Apple has disabled Nike+ syncing with the latest beta version of iTunes for iOS 5 users. A report by TiPB claims that the existing jailbreak tools such as Redsn0w on Macs and Sn0wbreeze on Windows work with iOS 5 beta 6. Other details regarding the latest iOS are pretty slim. Those with an Apple developer’s ID can let us know if there are any other improvements.

Apple is expected to release iOS 5 for existing hardware around the time of the iPhone 5 launch, with rumors for the debut now coalescing around early October.

Apple has also pushed out iWork for iOS beta 2 and a new “beta 5″ of the Apple TV software.

As noted by It’s All Tech, Apple on the Mac side has pushed out a new developer seed of OS X 10.7.2 (Build 11C40), iCloud for OS X Lion beta 8, and a new build of Safari 5.1.1, all to be used for testing out iCloud.

iLounge notes that Apple appears to have disabled Nike+ syncing through iTunes for iOS 5 users with the new beta, forcing them to use the wireless syncing option that debuted in iOS 4.1.
An official version of iOS 5 is expected to release alongside the next generation iPhone and it should be compatible for those using present generation iOS devices as well.

iOS 5 beta 6 available to paid devs only at the iOS developer site.

IPhone 5 release date is October, according to interviews with the Apple Managerial

Eventually the secret of the iPhone 5 release date have been solved. From the source Bloomberg.com, GadgetPeek have quoted, that there was already a bright spot, when iPhone5 will be released.

Rumors of the iPhone 5 release date of Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 5 have been floating about the Internet since last year, but recent changes to the details of said rumors have iPhone fanatics in a frenzy. Various rumors state that the iPhone 5 will see an imminent release, but not all sources agree that the smartphone will arrive in time to be put on your holiday wish list.

According to Bloomberg.com, sources claim that "Apple plans to introduce a new iPhone in September," but there is skepticism regarding whether this new iPhone will, indeed, be the iPhone 5. In the past, Apple has released upgraded versions of a product before revealing a new, finished product to the public. This knowledge leads some to expect that Apple will follow suit again this year.

Keith Bachman, of BMO Capital Markets, told his clients that the iPhone 5 would be released in mid-2012, "leading others to believe that only a slightly upgraded iPhone 4... will launch this fall instead," according to an article submitted by PCMag.com

All hope, however, is not lost; while there are those who argue that the iPhone 5 release date will not be released this year, there are others who argue that it will be. Unnamed sources in the know claim that the iPhone 5 will be released in October this year, likely later in the month than sooner.

Jamie Bailey, a resident of Houston, TX, is looking forward to the release, whenever it might be.
"I need a new phone," said Bailey, "my iPhone 3G freezes sometimes."
Even with the occasional technical difficulties that she has with her phone, Bailey remains loyal to Apple.
"I like the fact that everything is on [the iPhone]," she said. "No matter where I go and what I'm doing, I have what I need.

Despite the confusion regarding the release date, all rumors regarding the iPhone 5 agree that the new generation will not differ much from the iPhone 4 in design. Those looking to purchase the iPhone 5, however, can anticipate the addition of a faster processor and higher resolution camera.

iPhone 5 will come with three color choices, New Comer : iPhone 5 Red

New Comer : iPhone 5 Red
Right, we just said we don’t believe the guy has what he claims to have. But he’s got something in those pictures, which even if fully fake did take a fair amount of time to come up with. And these things are often based on some sliver of lost-in-translation truth which came from someone who works on an assembly line somewhere who saw something who told someone who bragged to someone else who got the idea to use it for self-publicity purposes.

Along the way, some of the original truth about the product remains intact. Ever wonder why even when supposed product images manage to get almost everything wrong, there’s always that one odd aspect that they got right, and there’s seemingly no way they could have known about it? That’s what the red iPhone 5 image feels like here, and it’s why there’s a puncher’s chance there’s a real one coming…

Things are no longer merely black and white as the iPhone 5 will come in red. In fact you can get a red iPhone 5 right now if you pony up for it, as according to one guy on craigslist, he’s got (stolen) iPhone 5 clone units for sale right now and you can have one for a mere $250. Yeah, we don’t believe him either. Then again, we were highly skeptical when some guy claimed to have found an iPhone 4 prototype in a bar last year, and we all know how that one turned out. Let’s just say that the prospect of a red iPhone 5 is perhaps more interesting than the fact that someone is claiming to be selling iPhone 5 “clone” units which he himself is admitting aren’t even real. Even as Apple has pushed the color boundaries for years with its products like the iPod nano and even the early iMacs, for some reason the company has been content to sit back and play the follower game when it comes to iPhone colors. And this is the first, if oddball, indication that that could be about to change.

The particularly eye opening part is that the craigslist guy doesn’t even appear to know that the red iPhone 5 depicted on his supposed packaging is the biggest part of the story. If he’d made a point of creating the red iPhone 5 idea himself, it would have been so he could use it to draw attention to his claims. But instead there’s no real mention of it. That feels more like someone said to someone “oh by the way, there’s a red one too” and the person on the receiving end of that information opted to include it in the fake mockups but didn’t fully grasp the importance of that information. That’s sketchy as can be, but add it to Apple’s documented affinity for the color red and how it ties into the larger picture, and the odds go up dramatically…

A few years back, U2 lead singer Bono helped create PRODUCT RED which encouraged major corporations to make an all-red version of their existing products, charge the same price tag, and yet give a portion of the proceeds to help Africa. Apple jumped in with a red iPod nano, which it still offers to this day. But the company has never gone that route with the iPhone. The lack of iPad and iPad 2 colors is more understandable, as the eighteen different inventory models generated merely by having white and black options (multiply that by Verizon, AT&T, and wifi-only models, each at three different capacities).

No wonder Apple went with Smart Covers in various colors, then, as the alternative would have been to have hundreds of different iPad variations floating around, making for a retail and inventory nightmare. But the iPhone is a different story. There are only two iPhone 4 capacities, multiplied by black and white colors, for a total of four iPhone 4 units. Double that, of course, thanks to the Verizon and AT&T split models. But if the iPhone 5 is indeed a hybrid model which works with both carriers, then we’re back to four iPhone 5 units total. Add a red model and there are only six units; a mere five if red is reserved for just the high-end iPhone 5 model. That’s an inventory piece of cake compared to where the iPad 2 is right now…

So why wouldn’t Apple do this? Pure inertia, I guess. It’s one of those things that makes too much sense not to do, particularly if the iPhone 4 sticks around in the bargain basement in both black and white. That’ll mean that there’s no color-based incentive to upsell yourself to an iPhone 5 unless it also comes in a third color option on top of black and white. And red suits the bill for a number of reasons. It also gives the iPhone 5 a leg up over competing phones which only come in black and white, the two standard-bearer colors for most smartphones over the past several years.

So even as ludicrous as today’s craigslist “iPhone 5 clone” posting seems (please don’t buy one of those things unless you like the idea of setting $250 on fire), it’s believable that the red iPhone 5 concept depicted within that phony listing could indeed be based on nugget of well thought out truth

Skype finally got around to launching a 2-way video chat for the iPad recently, but competitor Fring already has a 4-way video chat app for the iPhone and iPad. But if that’s not good enough for you, Tinychat has you covered with a new app that lets you participate in group video calls with up to 12 people.

Yes. 12. No. I don’t know why you’d want to see 11 of your friends faces in tiny windows on your iPhone screen, but the free app does also support the iPad.

Here’s how it works. You can fire up the free TinychatFB app on your iOS device and it will show you a list of all your Facebook contacts that are online. You can invite any of them to participate in a video chat and Tinychat will send them a link to a website.

Tinychat’s desktop service is entirely browser-based. There’s no software to install. As long as your computer has a camera and a microphone you just visit the web app to participate in video chatrooms that take just a few seconds to setup.

The company’s new mobile app only lets you communicate with your Facebook contacts — not with other Tinychat mobile users. But a future app will add its own contact list and other features that lets you setup and participate in group video calls with or without Facebook.

HP TouchPad Price Update Agust 2011 : Hewlett Packard (HP) has announced a $100 reduction in the cost of the HP TouchPad tablet computer

Just one month after the launch of the TouchPad, manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced a $100 reduction in the cost of the tablet computer HP Touchpad --- bringing down the price of the 16GB model to $400 and the 32GB model to $500.

The recently-announced TouchPad price update on Agust -cut – which takes effect immediately and will be offered at HP's web store - implies that the HP TouchPad tablet is now $100 cheaper as compared to its equivalent iPad 2 models.

The slashing of the TouchPad cost also clearly marks HP’s intentions of making serious on its earlier promise of reaching up to one of the top two positions among tablet manufacturers.

Despite the fact that HP has refrained from releasing official numbers about the TouchPad units sold so far, American Channel Chief, Stephen DiFranco, has stated that the sales of the tablet have been “encouraging.” In addition, DiFranco also said that the announced price-cut will make the tablet even more competitive.

There are speculations galore that the response to the HP TouchPad has probably been so upbeat that the company believes to have found the ‘magic price point’ for its tablet --- the optimism fairly substantiated by the fact that the company has released a notable Web OS update – version 3.0.2.

The TouchPad update – the first one to be delivered ‘over the air’ (OTA) – chiefly attempts to address a number of performance-related issues which, incidentally, have been tarnishing the image of the tablet.

iPhone 5 specs and Video Review

(ilustration/google.com)
With the number of leaks that has surrounded the release of the iPhone 5, it is often hard to tell which is fact and which is fiction. Thankfully we have found a video that looks at the percentage probability for the specs of Apple’s upcoming handset, as well as its design, which we know is more of a hot topic than the hardware. We say this because the fifth-generation iPhone can only go so far with its hardware, but it is how it looks that seems to be of the most interest now.

Sticking with this, it seems as though there is a 40 percent likelihood that the new smartphone will have an increased resolution. You might be interested to know that a white iPhone 5 should be launched from the start, as French site Nowhereelse.fr has given it a 100 percent probability. Now on to the camera, the chances of increased megapixles is 80 percent and 50 percent for Full HD 1080p recording.

The idea that the iPhone 5 will keep the same design only has a 30 percent probability, but 70 percent for a new design, which means that this being a minor update looks to be untrue. There have been a number of rumors that suggest that there will now be a low-cost iPhone, and there is an 80 percent chance that the iPhone 4 will be it.

With all the news that Apple had purchased machines to make curved glass it seems fitting that it has a 40 percent prospect of making it to the design of the iPhone 5. We had assumed that NFC would not make it into the new iPhone, so how come there is a 40 percent possibility of it being included in the hardware then?

Voice controls have always been an issue with the current and previous version of the iPhone, so you will be happy to know that enhanced voice controls has an 80 percent probability. We know that the new handset will come with the A5 processor and more than likely increased RAM, but we are a little shocked that there is only a 30 percent chance of an improved battery, which means that it will be down to iOS 5 to do some clever power management. The only thing to get a 100 percent probability is that the iPhone 5 will be announced in September and available between September and October.

Here is iPhone 5 specs Video Review

iPhone 5 battery leak
Since there has been no leaked iPhone 5 this time around – or nobody is willing to pay good money for a lost/stolen iPhone 5 (after what happened to Gizmodo) the iPhone rumour world is clasping onto any little snippet of information.

This evening that information comes from iPhone parts supplier TVC Mall, who has posted images of what it claims to be iPhone battery, camera lens, and earphone audio jack flex cable.

Mac Rumours shows the apparent new parts in comparison to MacFixIt's photographs of the same parts in the iPhone 4. There are very superficial changes between the different units. The so called iPhone 5 battery is a similar shape to the iPhone 4 battery, the main difference being that the specifications listed on the label 3.7V and 5.3Whr on the new battery, while the iPhone 4 part is 3.7V and 5.25Whr, a very minimal change.

The camera module for the back camera also closely resembles iPhone 4's camera, although the flash unit is further away.

Update : Apple iPad 3 Have some advantages compare to iPad 2

iPad 3 Specification and Price

The next-gen iPad, expected to be released as the iPad 3, is one of the most anticipated tablets out there, but its ipad 3 release date Reported by Forbes, the iPad 3 should release later this year, which could help Apple stay ahead in terms of technology and innovation in the tablet market. Maybe now you want know about iPad 3 specification and iPad 3 Price. You must be wondering why the rumour mill has already started spewing out rumours about the iPad 3, while it has merely been five months since the iPad 2 was launched earlier this year in March. The fact is, it looks like Apple is breaking away from its infamous release cycles.

For example, since 2007, Apple has announced new iPhone models at its annual Worldwide Developer Conference. However, WWDC 2011 saw no mention, not even a whisper of the next generation iPhone and now reports indicate a September iPhone 5 launch. Apple has never launched an iPhone in September, it always launches the new iPod models in September but word on the internet says that Apple is pushing back the September 2011 iPod model launch just so it can put its brand new iPhone on the market.

iPad 3 SPECIFICATION AND PRICE

iPad 3 Specification
About iPad 3 specification, Equally uncertain are the tablet's specs: most rumors unite around the theory of a higher-resolution display than that of the second-gen iPad, and some have even pointed out QXGA, or 2048 x 1536 pixels on a 9.7-inch screen as Apple's choice. This would probably require a bump in the spec sheet as well, but it's still too early to narrow the processor type and speed down. Nevertheless, some sources have stressed the possibility of a quad-core A6 chip coming with the iPad 3.

Display the iPad 3 is kept as a symbolic display screen 9.7-inch Notebook Apple, but it certainly will have a sharper resolution and attractive. And besides, Apple's Notebook habit is always present to a thin screen that gives the impression of elegant and memorable more simple compared to other tablet PCs.

Pabrika Apple and Samsung will form a team to bring Samsung's AMOLED technology for the screen iPad 3, but for Apple decided not to AMOLED displays because it is not full HD, they have a "lifetime is shorter, and easily contaminated.". iPad 3 plan will be designed with full-frame LCD with no space for an LCD, so it seems very sophisticated and luxurious.

iPad 3 Price
About iPad 3 Price, A report claims that iPad 3 price will be similar to that of the iPad 2, but when its launched, the iPad 2 will be discounted so much so that its stock finishes and an inevitable discontinuation dawns upon everyone. Details, after the jump.

The report in question here comes from Taiwan Economic News and was originally brought to our attention by BGR. The report hints at an iPad 3 launch in Fall of 2011 or early next year. We just discussed about Apple breaking away from its release cycles so naturally you would have been expecting an iPad 3 release in March 2012, however this report claims on the contrary.

Price iPad 3 plan will be released at a price of about $ 900 - $ 1000. However, from pihat Notebook can not be sure the price is right for launching the iPad 3. Here is a picture iPad 3 that the plan was released in late 2011.

It is expressed in the report that the iPad 3 won’t replace the iPad 2, rather it would be an addition to the iPad line up as the third generation iPad is going to be a “pro” iteration of the world’s favourite tablet. Better cameras, faster processer and a Retina Display is what will set the iPad 3 apart from its predecessor. We won’t expect any major design changes though. Also, we would beg to differ from the 2011 iPad 3 release claim. Remember Steve Jobs explicitly stating “2011: Year of the iPad 2″ at the iPad 2 launch event on March 2? We highly doubt that the company would change that, hence our hopes are high for an early 2012 release, not for a Fall 2011 iPad 3 release.

We’ll keep you regularly posted on iPad 3 price, and all rumours regarding its release and availability. Stay tuned.

Facebook video chat aplication for iPhone, Android and Blackberry

Facebook video chat app for iPhone, Android and Blackberry
For you the owner of the iPhone and Android, as long as it you might looking for a Facebook video chat application for iPhone or facebook video chat applications for Android. But you do not find it.

Facebook Messenger, the social network's new messaging app for iPhone and Android, may soon have a video chat component. Hackers rummaging around in the new smartphone app have discovered traces of a video chat feature that appears to be under development. The hidden service was first reported by 9-to-5 Mac and How To Arena later confirmed similar video chat remnants were in the Android version.

Facebook Messenger Has Hidden Video Chat Feature, The hidden service is in the iPhone and Android versions of the app.Video chat doesn't seem to be functional yet, but it's a pretty good bet Facebook will announce the new feature in the coming months. Facebook announced Messenger on Tuesday for Android and iPhone devices. The new standalone app features instant messaging to friends or groups, and photo and location sharing. Facebook says a BlackBerry video chat app version will be available soon.

Facebook has been hard at work improving the social network's messaging capabilities. In October, the company introduced text-based group chat for the new version of Facebook groups. A month later, Facebook rolled out a redesigned messaging service that saves your Facebook e-mail, SMS and instant messaging in one place. In July, Facebook launched video chat in partnership with Skype for Windows and OS X users. During the Skype announcement, Facebook also made text-based group messaging a standard part of the social network that works outside the new groups feature.

Video chat no surprise
Although it's encouraging to see video chat features buried in Facebook's new messaging apps, the discovery is hardly a surprise. During its Skype announcement in July, Mike Barnes, Skype's product manager for the Facebook video-chat client, told PCWorld that Skype was ready to add mobile video chat to Facebook's service. "Barnes gave me the distinct impression that Facebook will soon be adding both group video chat and mobile video chat in the near future," PCWorld's Mark Sullivan reported in July.

So look for video chat in the near future, and don't be surprised if group video chat shows up, too.

Google introduced a group video chat feature called Hangouts in June as part of its rollout of Google+, the search giant's new social network.

Know what is the advantages IOS 5, Read this

Apple will soon launch a new operating system in iPhone 5 product. iPhone 5 issued will soon be released in September 2011. On the iPhone 5 will use the iOS 5 as operating system.

You may ask what is the advantages iOS 5 compared to previous versions and with other brands. iOS 5 couse have some the advantages, here the advantages of iOS 5:

iOS 5 Will Make Photos Faster and More Fun
The new developer beta of  iOS 5 released last weekend contained a number of new image filters that should let developers manipulate photos much more quickly and easily. That means if you're an iPhone owner, you can expect to see a wealth of new, cheap, photo editing tools for iPhone and iPad. The new effects are part of the iOS 5's Core Image framework, which is designed to make image processing easier on the platform.

The new programming tools will certainly be of use to developers. Even without these new effects and frameworks provided by iOS 5, the iPhone already is the most popular camera on Flickr. This popularity is, at least in part, due to the great photo editing apps that are already available for the iPhone. For instance, popular photo filter app Instragram hit 150 million photos recently in under a year.

However, thus far most of these apps had to create ad hoc solutions with the Core Graphics framework to manipulate photos since iOS didn't have the tools to handle image processing on its own. While that has produced some spectacular effects, creating custom photo filters is also a relatively difficult and complicated task for developers that has discouraged new apps.

The Instagram logoWhile Core Image may make it easier to create competitors for apps like Instagram or Hipstamatic, Developers will also be able to use the new tools in Core Image to stay in the lead.

A more likely possibility is that other app developers will start to integrate photo manipulation into existing social apps like Flickr or Fourquare so you won't need to switch apps or fiddle with your phone the next time you want to upload a photo to Facebook or another social service.

iOS 5 is expected to be released sometime this fall and, thanks to the developer beta that's currently in progress, we can expect a deluge of photo filter apps to follow soon after.

iOS 5 will be a platform much more "social" if it is to earlier versions. Among other features, we can now tweet photos without leaving the camera application, showing where we are and any comments regarding the photo. The same can be done from YouTube or Safari.
Safari, Apple's browser, was also much improved for this release. Now you can save news to read later with included synchronization with other devices, an ideal choice to save a story in the iPhone 4 fastened while riding the subway and then read it in the quiet home iPad 2 Moreover it will enable tabbed browsing "traditional" as with Firefox , Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Update :
iOS 5 know Issues

Apple has just seeded the new beta version of  iOS 5 to developers. This comes after Apple suspended developers accounts which their owners was selling access to iOS 5 Beta.

NOTES AND KNOW ISSUES
The following issues relate to using the 5.0 SDK to develop code.

Accounts

When creating an iCloud account, you can use any Apple ID as long as it is a full email address and not a MobileMe account. If you have a MobileMe account, you can move that account to iCloud. You can find more information on iCloud at: http://developer.apple.com/icloudWhen setting up an iCloud or MobileMe account using the setup assistant and leaving Find My iPhone on, it might actually turn Find my iPhone off after the setup. Please verify in Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendar/YourAccount that Find my iPhone is toggled On after leaving the setup assistant. NEW: Enabling iCloud services in Setup Assistant may not always be saved correctly. After completing Setup Assistant you should visit Settings > iCloud to verify the state of the iCloud account. If you have multiple iCloud or MobileMe accounts configured on the device you should also visit each of those accounts in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar to verify each account.

It is recommended that you disable Bookmarks on multiple accounts. If they are enabled, the results might be undefined.

AirPlay

Starting in iOS 5, video content in applications and websites are AirPlay-enabled by default.iOS 5 supports AirPlay of video via AV Foundation.
Apple TVApple TV Software beta enables users to mirror the contents of an iPad 2 to an Apple TV (2nd generation) using AirPlay. This beta software also enables Photo Stream on Apple TV so users can access photos stored in iCloud. Apple TV Software beta is being provided to test the latest AirPlay functionality with your iOS 5 apps and web sites. If you wish to install Apple TV Software beta on your device, you must first register your device UDID in the iOS Developer Program Portal.

Calendar

Birthday calendars are not currently available via the icloud.com website or in Windows. They will be available in a future release. NEW: The default calendar is still the On My iPhone calendar despite setting up an iCloud account during Setup Assistant. As a workaround, reset the default Calendar after finishing Setup Assistant in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Default Calendar. NEW: Pushing iCloud Calendar data is not working in iOS. To sync your iCloud Calendar, launch the Calendar app or refresh the calendars manually using the Calendars button in the top left corner.

Core Image

Several filters have been added since beta 1.Match data for turn based matches is currently limited to 4 KB of data. NEW: When logging in to Game Center, the password may clear and login may not complete. Trying a second time will succeed. NEW: In this beta, GameKit Invites may fail. As a workaround, try restarting the device.

 iBooksi

Books 1.2.2 may fail to display some text or images in books. Please update to iBooks 1.3 in the App Store.

iCloud Backup

As this is beta software, it is recommended that you do not use the iCloud services to store any critical data or information. If you enable iCloud Backup, automatic backup with iTunes when syncing will be disabled. We also suggest that you manually back up your device with iTunes. Backups made with earlier versions of iOS 5 beta will soon become incompatible, and will no longer be available. It is strongly advised you upgrade to this version of the iOS 5 beta in order to continue backing up your devices. If you encounter errors restoring from a backup, or enabling a backup more than one hour after signing into iCloud, try deleting your iCloud account from Settings and adding it back. If errors persist, please try erasing your device and initiating the restore again.

iCloud Storage

During the iOS 5 beta period, any documents stored on the servers might be purged periodically before GM. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you do not store any critical documents or information on the servers. NEW: Provisioning Profiles no longer need to be enabled for iCloud in the iOS Provisioning Portal. All newly generated provisioning profiles are now automatically enabled for iCloud. If you are using an Xcode managed Team Provisioning Profile, click refresh in the Xcode Organizer to obtain a new iCloud-enabled profile. To enable all other provisioning profiles for iCloud, simply regenerate your profiles in the iOS Provisioning Portal. If your application is using the NSMetadataQuery class, you must set a predicate, even though the predicate itself is ignored. In this beta, the setSortDescriptors: method of NSMetadataQuery is not supported. FIXED: To use iCloud prior to beta 5, you had to manually specify various container identifiers (your application’s Display set) within an Entitlements file for both of your Mac OS X and iOS projects.Starting in beta 5, to enable iCloud storage within your apps, simply click the “Enable Entitlements” checkbox in the Summary pane of your project. Xcode will create a custom entitlements file for your project that automatically includes your Team ID. You can add additional iCloud Container values as required by your application. (Note that you must regenerate your existing provisioning profiles, either with Xcode or in the iOS Provisioning Portal, to use iCloud storage.) If you specify a custom identifier string for your iCloud Key-Value Store or iCloud Container entitlement values, you no longer need to prepend your Team ID to the beginning of the string. Xcode will prepend your Team ID to these entries automaticallyThe container identifier string you pass to the URLForUbiquityContainerIdentifier: method of NSFileManager MUST include the team ID at the beginning of the string. As a convenience, if you pass nil, Foundation uses the first document container ID specified in your app’s entitlements. There are issues using the Cloud Storage document API in conjunction with protected data which can lead to data corruption. FIXED: In this beta, document-based applications cannot always detect when files change, move, or are deleted out from underneath them. In this beta, file presenters (objects that adopt the NSFilePresenter protocol) do not receive some of the messages that they’re supposed to receive, especially: presentedItemDidChangepresentedSubitemDidAppearAtURL:presentedSubitemDidChangeAtURL: You can workaround this by implementing the relinquishPresentedItemToWriter: method and checking to see if the writer actually wrote when your file presenter reacquires. You can also use FSEvents to observe file system changes In this beta, messages about changes to files in a directory are not getting delivered to objects that adopt the NSFilePresenter protocol. While reporting a bug related to the iCloud storage interfaces, please include the logs collected during your debugging session. To generate these logs, you must install a special debug profile on your device. The debug profile can be obtained from http://connect.apple.com. This profile enables the generation of debug logs that are needed to diagnose any problems using iCloud storage. The instructions to collect the logs are: Install the profile. (The easiest way to do this is to mail it to yourself and open the attachment on their device.)

Reproduce the bug.

Sync with iTunes to pull the logs off your device.Attach the logs to your bug report. You can find the logs in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/DeviceName/DiagnosticLogs.These logs can grow large very quickly, so you should remove the profile after you have reproduced the problem and pulled the logs for the bug report. NEW: File names are case-insensitive in OS X but case-sensitive in iOS. This can lead to problems when syncing files between the two. You should take steps on iOS to avoid creating files whose names differ only by case.

iMessagei

Message beta 1 will be unable to communicate with iMessage users on beta 2 or later.iPod NEW: When using the volume buttons on the device, or on headphones, the volume slider in the UI of applications may not update even though the volume level has changed.

iTunes

The version of iTunes that comes with beta 5 cannot sync devices that have the beta 4 software installed. To avoid this problem, do the following: Sync any devices that have beta 4 installed to the version of iTunes that came with beta 4.Upgrade iTunes to the version that comes with beta 5. Connect the device and install the beta 5 software. (Understand that you might see a failure to sync error when you first connect the device.) After installing the beta 5 software, restore from your the backup you made in step 1.Videos purchased from the iTunes Store do not play on a 2nd generation AppleTV over AirPlay with iTunes 10.5.

Location

FIXED: The startMonitoringSignificantLocationChanges method of CLLocationManager does not cause applications to be resumed or launched in the background for significant location change updates. However, if a backup from a previous software version (where an application was monitoring significant location changes) is restored to the device, significant location change monitoring will continue to cause that application to be resumed or launched in the background.

Mail

FIXED: Forwarding a message with attachments included does not attach the file and the message compose screen does not change from “Loading….” NEW: When changing the host name of an email account in settings, blank messages may be seen in the unified inbox. As a workaround, delete and re-add the account instead of changing its host name. Music LibraryFIXED: Some songs are missing their album artwork after changing the device library via syncing.

OpenGL ES

FIXED: In iOS 5.0 beta 4, several OpenGL ES extensions have been moved from the APPLE namespace to the EXT namespace, causing some API to be renamed. The altered extensions are EXT_color_buffer_half_float,EXT_occlusion_query_boolean, EXT_separate_shader_objects, EXT_shadow_samplers, EXT_texture_rg, EXT_debug_label, and EXT_debug_marker.

OTA Software Update

If you are doing an OTA software update, you will need to re-sync your photos with iTunes.”

Personal HotSpot

FIXED: In this beta, iPhone 4 device cannot join personal hotspot even if it is on due to a non functional Wi-Fi tethering on these devices. PhotosFIXED: If you apply red-eye adjustments in iOS, and import your image into the iPhoto seed build, the red-eye adjustments will not appear on that image in iPhoto. As a result, subsequent syncing of your image back to the iOS device from iPhoto will not show the red-eye adjustments. NEW: When restoring photo libraries from an iTunes backup, some photos may not appear in the Photos application after restore. Please back up your photos before updating to iOS Beta 5.

Simulator

Location services are not functional in iOS 4.3 simulator running on Mac OS 10.7 with Xcode 4.2.

Springboard

Push and local notifications for apps appear in the new Notification Center in iOS 5. Notification Center displays notifications that are considered “unread.” In order to accommodate push and local notifications that have no “unread” status, developers can use their application badge count to trigger a clearing of notifications from Notification Center. When an application clears its badge count (by setting it to zero), iOS 5 will clear its notifications from Notification Center. FIXED: iOS 5.0 terminates VoIP applications that are resumed in the background for incoming network traffic with extreme frequency. Developers are encouraged to make sure all incoming data is read from VoIP sockets to avoid this condition. NEW: The UIPrerenderedIcon key (in the Info.plist file) is not honored in this build.

StoreKit

NEW: In-App purchase will not work for developers testing their apps with the iTunes Sandbox. Twitter FIXED: When tweeting your location from Safari and exiting before the location can be established, the location arrow will stay in the status bar. The arrow can be removed by killing Safari from the task switcher.

UI Automation

FIXED: Instruments overwrites the loaded automation script, even if another program is editing it. FIXED: The play and record buttons in the Automation instrument script editor may not work properly after targeting an application that was launched by a trace session and has ended. They may also not work if you target an application that was suspended. If you run into this problem and it persists, you may need to close and reopen the trace document to get back into a functional state. FIXED: When capturing actions into a script using the Automation instrument, interfaces with web views or table cells that contain a high number of off screen elements may take an extremely long time before returning with an expression. The lock () and unlock () functions of UIATarget have been replaced with the lockForDuration () function. Starting in iOS 5 beta 2, you can now trigger the execution of an UI Automation script on an iOS device from the host terminal by using the instruments tool. The command is:

instruments -w -t

When using the cli instruments for UI Automation you can now target the default Automation Template and pass the script and results path into the tool as environment variable options. For example:instruments -w -t /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Instruments/PlugIns/AutomationInstrument.bundle/Contents/Resources/Automation.tracetemplate -e UIASCRIPT
