The Bad: The RIM BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 is not too different from its predecessors, and remains a fairly basic smartphone.

The Bottom Line: The RIM BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 is a decent entry-level BlackBerry with a couple of modern features like 3G and GPS, but we wish it was more affordable.

Review Summary: The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300, as its name suggests, is a 3G-enabled phone that's an upgrade of the 3G-less Curve 8520 phone. We took it to town to test out its web-browsing capabilities and see what else it had to offer

Review Summary: The Curve 3G 9300 is basically an updated version of the Curve 8520 - RIM's previous entry-level model. But rather than merely rehashing that phone, RIM has added in some tempting extras, not least of which is support for 3G, something that the 8520...

    The software

The Droid Pro ships with Android 2.2 -- aka Froyo. That’s just about the newest version of the Android OS, if you’re not counting a couple of phones on Android 2.2.1, and if you’re not counting that we’re expecting the announcement of Android 2.3 Gingerbread any time now.
Droid Pro appsThe phone has the same homescreen customizations that debuted earlier this year on the Droid X. (Call it the new Blur, or Motoblur or, yes, Phil Blur.) You’ve got the usual three buttons at the bottom for the phone dialer, app launcher and contacts. (Note to Motorola: Please change the contacts button to something more useful. We can get to the contacts through the phone dialer just fine, thank you very much.)
You have the usual seven home screens on which to put app shortcuts, widgets -- the works. Motorola’s loaded them up with the usual widgets -- social networking, updates, weather, some useful toggles for Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and airplane mode), calendar, messages, search, music app, photo gallery, news reader -- a ton of stuff for a little phone, really.
Call it bloat if you must, but they’re really some useful widgets, and they have the added bonus of being resizeable if you want. (Tap and hold a widget. When you let go, it can be resized.)
Apps on the Droid Pro by default include:
3G Mobile Hotspot Alarm and Timer Amazon MP3 Backup Assistant
Browser Calculator Calendar Camcorder (video recording)
Camera (still photography) City ID (hasn’t gotten any more useful) Contacts Dialer
DLNA (streaming to DLNA-enabled TVs E-mail (non gmail) EMERGENCY (A way to get emergency alerts) Files (a handy file explorer)
Gallery Gmail Google Search Help Center
Google Latitude Google Listen Manage SIM card Maps (Google Maps)
Android Market Media Share Messaging (Single inbox) Music
My Accounts (add accounts to phone) My Verizon Mobile (account info) Navigation (Google Maps Navigation) News (RSS reader)
News and Weather (stock Android app) NFS Shift (racing game) Places (Google Location Search and recomm.) Quickoffice
Settings Skype Mobile Social Networking Talk (Gchat)
Task Manager Text Messaging Voice Command Voice Search
    Voiecmail VPN YouTube
A lot of that we could do without, but to each his (or her) own. Not preloaded are any of Verizon’s VCAST apps, and that makes us happy.
Oh, and notice that Task Manager? Yeah. It's an evil, EVIL task manager. Actually, the app itself is well done. If there's an app that hangs (I have the occasional problem with Seesmic not making a connection, for instance), you can use this to kill the app, and then reopen it. But please, PLEASE, don't use it to automatically kill apps that you think you don't want running. Because it's fine, you're wrong, and the Droid Pro has plenty of overhead to handle more than one thing at a time.

    Some odds and ends

    1. We had zero problems with the GPS on the Droid Pro. It locked on in about 12 seconds.
    2. The speakerphone is above average -- Motorola continues to make great ones.
    3. There are 14 steps between LOUD and vibrate, using the volume buttons.
    4. Double-tap the home button to launch voice commands. (That's different than using the microphone button.
    5. The web browser is your basic Android browser. Nothing special, it just works.
    6. The only on-screen keyboard you have is the Motorola multitouch keyboard. No Swype. You can download others at your leisure.

    iPhone 5 Release Date Predictions

Not patient to hold the iPhone 5 ? When is the iPhone 5 release date ?

As the cadre of would-be iPhone 5 buyers turned to Steve Jobs for answers on its release date, he simply shrugged and talked about how great its software features are going to be once it shows up.

His hype-fest merely served to ratchet up expectations and thus excitement for the next generation iPhone 5 while failing to give any real hint as to when it’s coming. As such, the question we get asked most often, “When is the iPhone 5 release date?”, is being asked even more frequently than when the week began.

The answer: we don’t know. And neither does anyone else outside of Apple’s innermost posse. But here are five scenarios for its release, along with the realistic odds of each and the corresponding impact.

iPhone 5 Release Date :Very soon.

The theory: Apple didn’t unveil the iPhone 5 this week because it wanted iOS 5 and the iCloud to get all the attention. Apple will hold a press conference next week and announce the iPhone 5 on its own. The reality: Not bloody likely. Why would Apple do something so strange?

iPhone 5 Release Date : August.

The theory: iOS 5 needs beta testing and developer lead time, and Apple doesn’t want to roll out the iPhone 5 until iOS 5 is ready. Announcing the iPhone 5 this week would have hurt iPhone 4 and 3GS sales in the mean time, so it decided to hold off. The reality: Sounds reasonable…

iPhone 5 Release Date : September.

The theory: see the above scenario, except Apple decides to use its traditional early September iPress Conference to launch the iPhone 5. The reality: Feels like the most likely scenario.

iPhone 5 Release Date : Just before the holidays.

The theory: Something about the iPhone 5 and/or iOS 5 is running late, and we mean late. But Apple is determined to get it to market before the holidays, so it’ll surface sometime not too long before November’s Black Friday shopping season launch. The reality: You’re getting colder. If Apple really were going to need to leave the iPhone 5 hanging for that long, it likely would have done some sort of interstitial model in the mean time. But such a model would have been unleashed at WWDC, and it wasn’t…

    iPhone 5 Release Date : Doomsday 2012.

The theory: Apple decides to leave the iPhone 4 as the current model for more than a year and a half, unleashing the iPhone 5 in February of 2012 or so. The reality: aside from fouling up the iPad 3 launch, waiting this long for the iPhone 5 would be too poor of an idea for Apple to even be considering, particularly in light of the fact that it just unveiled iOS 5 which will apparently be ready for public release within months.

Do you really see a scenario in which Apple either A) releases iOS 5 this year for the iPhone 4 but with no iPhone 5 in tow, or B) has unveiled iOS 5 now but with no intention to release it until the iPhone 5 is ready next year? Either scenario evokes the phrase “epic fail.” These are both nonsensical, which is why we expect to see the iPhone 5 this year. And because Apple almost never releases major new hardware any later in the year than early September, we’re betting on that scenario above.

    Samsung Galaxy Pro SmartPhone Review

    Samsung Galaxy Pro
Samsung Galaxy Pro is the newest smart phone with small 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen. This is the only helpful device with a 4 tiered QWERTY  physical keyboard. Galaxy Pro has a 320 x 240-pixel resolution display. I can not guess anything that why samsung choose to make this low resolution screen in this smart technology time. A 2.8" screen is pretty small for an Android handset, How android os is manageable with landscape orientation on such this small screen? Add to that the lack of multi-touch and the Samsung Galaxy Pro display begins to lose appeal. Viewing angles are also pretty poor, as is outdoor visibility, making the display's one redeeming factor being its responsiveness. Like most galaxy S device it has 3.52mm headphone jack on up top as well as a micro USB connectior protected by a sliding cover while on the reverse of the handset is the battery cover complete with a textured finish, 3MP camera and loud speaker. To the right of the phone is a volume rocker and to the left a power button. It is at 10.7mm thin and it is 3.52mm thinner than the BlackBerry Tour and just 1mm thinner than iphone 4.  The Samsung Galaxy Pro looks rather rectangular and rigid, so while similar in form factor to BlackBerrys of late. The phone is entirely plastic, though feels sturdy. With a pleasing aesthetic and overall solid feel finished off with a good keyboard experience.

QWERTY keyboard is for professionals who want the tangible feedback of pushing buttons while typing but it also embraces the navigational and intuitive ease provided by a capacitive touch screen.
