If you don't see the price, it's because Retailers like Amazon have the legal right to set their own prices independently, but some manufacturers place restrictions on how those prices may be communicated. Because our price on this item is lower than the manufacturer's "minimum advertised price," the manufacturer does not allow us to show you our price until you take further action, such as placing the item in your shopping cart, or in some cases, proceeding to the final checkout stage. The steps required depend on the details of the manufacturer's minimum advertised price policy. Taking these steps allows Amazon to show you our price consistent with our goal of always offering you the lowest possible prices on the widest selection of products.

This won't require you to purchase the product. You can easily remove it from your cart if you decide not to buy it.

PRICE WARS: Amazon Cuts 32GB HP TouchPad Price to Under $500

Screenshot 2011/9/8

Maybe it’s HP’s “for-real-this-time” launch and Amazon wants a leg up on competitors, maybe it’s low initial demand, or maybe it’s just a freak occurrence: Amazon has further reduced the price of the 32GB HP TouchPad to $460, with Free Super-Saver Shipping. If ordered over the next 24 hours, expedited shipping is thrown in for good measure.

The 16GB TouchPad pricing remains at $350.

In our estimation it’s really too early to tell what this price drop means. We do know a lot of our readers have been sitting on the fence, and maybe this nudge might cause them to take the plunge. So? Is this pushing anyone over the edge to get one? What if we told you most of the writers for GadgetPeek got one, and you should too? Would that help?
