Samsung has announced its new 7-inch tablet which runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it is called the Galaxy Tab 2. It image suggests that this device will be running Samsung TouchWiz UI over Android ICS, however we would now the major changes in the UI later after the launch of the device.

We’re now reviewing some pricing details for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 announced earlier today, and if these number stick to release day, we’ve got not doubt that Samsung has a rather larger blunder on their hands. The Galaxy Tab 2 was announced as a low-cost update to the original Galaxy Tab, otherwise known as the first real effort on earth to create an Android tablet. This tablet is shaping up to be rather similar to the ASUS MeMO tablet we saw at CES 2012, but at half the core power and twice the price. Will the high-powered display be enough to convince customers that this is the winning 7-incher?

Fujifilm‘s great gush of digital cameras this morning missed out one gem, the Fujifilm X-Pro 1, an interchangeable lens camera building on the successful X100. Packing a custom 16-megapixel APS-CMOS sensor, according to a prematurely posted press release, along with a new filter array and proprietary EXR processor, the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 will initially be offered with a choice of three Fujinon prime lenses.

Those lenses will consist of an 18mm (27mm equivalent) f/2.0, a 35mm (53mm equivalent) f/1.4 and a 60mm (90mm equivalent) f/2.4. There’s also what Fujifilm is describing as a “second-generation” hybrid viewfinder for framing shots.

And the 16GB Toshiba Thrive (Wi-Fi) and the 16GB Asus Eee Pad Transformer (Wi-Fi) are both $400.

Is that low enough to trigger significant consumer demand for a 10-inch class tablet? Only the tablet suppliers know for sure but Amazon and Barnes and Noble are not making it any easier by releasing 7-inch tablets for $199 and $249, respectively. The Kindle Fire, in particular, is seeing very strong demand.

Alas, Apple, so far, is pretty much immune to the price pressure impacting mere mortal tablet makers. Ranging from $499 to $829, Apple still sells over ten million tablets per quarter.

Verizon apparently didn't get that memo, though. The carrier just released the Motorola XyBoard priced between $529.99 and $729.99 with a two-year contract (and as much as $899.99 without a contract).
