Microsoft Illumishare Projector Features and Benefit (Video)

Seen first at Microsoft TechForum 2012, IllumiShare enables remote people to share any physical or digital object on any surface. It is a low-cost, peripheral device that looks like a desk lamp, and just like a lamp lights up a surface at which it is pointed, IllumiShare shares a surface.

Microsoft IllumiShare uses a camera-projector pair where the camera captures video of the local workspace and sends it to the remote space and the projector projects video of the remote workspace onto the local space.

The IllumiShare is a virtual workspace system that looks like a simple desk lamp. It actually consists of both a camera and projector to simultaneously capture and project video. The challenge is for it to be able to differentiate between that which it has projected versus that which is physically present so that it does not re-project visuals in an infinite loop.

With IllumiShare, people can sketch together using real ink and paper, remote meeting attendees can interact with conference room whiteboards, and children can have remote play dates in which they play with real toys.

Microsoft Holoflector Mirror Features Demos (Video)

Holoflector is a unique, interactive augmented-reality mirror. Graphics are superimposed correctly on your own reflection to enable a novel augmented-reality experience. Presented at Microsoft TechForum 2012, Holoflector leverages the combined abilities of Kinect and Windows Phone to infer the position of your phone and render graphics that seem to hover above it.

The Holoflector features a transparent mirror that sits in front of an LCD screen so that users can see both their reflections as well as any virtual elements displayed on the screen behind the mirror. Using Kinect’s sensors and motion capture capabilities, virtual reality elements can be combined with physical reality for a blended visual on the mirror.

Microsoft 3D Desktop Kinect Features (Video)

Microsoft Research showed off some fascinating new technology concepts with three demo videos, two of which heavily integrate Kinect sensors. The projects include a 3D desktop concept, the IllumiShare remote sharing system, and the Holoflector augmented reality mirror, all of which can find diverse applications in gaming, education, and business.

Microsoft 3D Desktop Kinect is just demos technology concepts. It's not available complete informations about price of Microsoft 3D Desktop Kinect, Microsoft 3D Desktop Kinect release date, and How will Microsoft 3D Desktop Kinect to sell the 3D Desktop Kinect.

The Kinect-integated 3D desktop involves a transparent display that folds up so that your hands lie on a keyboard behind the screen. Objects and graphics on the screen appear in a virtual 3-dimensional space in which your hands can virtually manipulate them from behind the screen. The system also tracks eye movement so that 3D objects appear correctly on the screen.

  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
  • Taking advantage of touch input requires a screen that supports multi-touch

How to install the Windows Developer Preview from an ISO image

The Windows Developer Preview is delivered as an .iso image that must be converted into installation media stored on a DVD or a USB flash drive. On Windows 7, the easiest way to convert this file is to use Windows Disc Image Burner. On Windows XP and Windows Vista, a third-party program is required to convert an .iso file into installable media—and DVD burning software often includes this capability.
Note: The .iso file that contains the developer tools requires a large capacity DVD called a DVD-9, as well as a DVD burner that can handle dual-layer (DL) DVDs. Most modern burners should be able to handle this format.

Before you Go ahead installing it you should know few stuff

1. This preview version will work fine for 1 year, it seems.
2. You will need a large 8.7GB capacity DVD(called DVD9) for burning Windows Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit
3. This version only have Internet Explorer 10, Metro-style UI, upgraded Task manager, but missing most other program. But it is expected.
4. This version comes with all 25+ desktop apps that have been shown in BUILT conference.
