Best low cost laptops 2012 stocks available to buy

Laptops priced at $800 and below are becoming increasingly powerful and packed with features. Although they're still not the best choice for graphics work or gaming, many cheap laptops sport faster processors, larger hard drives and more memory than you could find in this price range just a few years ago. This Best low cost laptops 2012 stocks available to buy from Amazon according to consumersearch.com.

Dell Vostro v131

Best low cost laptops: For business users on a tight budget, reviewers recommend the 13.3-inch Dell Vostro v131 (*Est. $800) . Although most reviewers test a higher-end $800 configuration, the base model starts at an affordable $500 with a second-generation 1.10 GHz Intel Celeron ULV processor, 2 GB of RAM, 320 GB hard drive and integrated Intel graphics.

Dell Vostro v131. image: dell.com

CNET, however, says to avoid the Celeron-based base configuration "at all costs." Upgrades include the more powerful Core i5 or i7 CPUs, 4 GB of RAM, larger hard drives, Windows 7 Professional and more. All configurations come with an HDMI port, an 8-in-1 card reader, a fingerprint scanner, Intel's WiDi 2 technology and three USB ports (including two USB 3.0 ports). They lack an optical drive, however.

Dell Vostro 3550

Best low cost laptops: If you need an optical drive, the Dell Vostro 3550 (*Est. $505 and up) includes one and offers similar performance to the Dell Vostro v131, experts say.

The upgraded configuration critics test includes a second generation Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive, but it still rings up at around $800 and earns 4-star (out of 5) ratings from PCMag.com, Laptop Magazine and PC World, while CNET gives it a Very Good rating. The slim-cased Dell Vostro v131 weighs around 4 pounds, so reviewers say it's a good choice for business travelers, though PC World notes that "it's size and weight stretch the definition" of ultraportable. Battery life is much improved over previous Dell business laptops:

The Vostro v131 outperformed the average laptop battery life rating in Laptop Magazine's strenuous tests and lasted more than seven hours for other reviewers. The overall feel and design of the backlit keyboard and trackpad are also praised, though several experts say the 13.3-inch display's brightness is average at best.

On the performance front, the Core i5-based Dell Vostro v131 holds its own against more expensive business laptops and outperforms similar laptops in Laptop Magazine's PCMark Vantage tests. Reviewers say the Dell laptop has no trouble with mainstream tasks or multimedia processing and encoding, but serious gamers will have to look elsewhere.

Although PC World says that you may be able to play games at low resolution and the lowest graphical settings, CNET reports that they only achieved an unplayable 13.5 frames per second rate when they tried to play "Street Fighter IV" at the Vostro v131's native resolution. Critics say the speakers don't deliver much volume either, which further hurts the laptop's gaming chops.

HP ProBook 4530s

Best low cost laptops: The HP ProBook 4530s (*Est. $486 and up) also gets good reviews for business users. Like the Dell Vostro v131, the HP laptop comes in different configurations, but the base model -- the HP ProBook 4530s-XU015UT -- is available with a second-generation Intel Core i3-2310M processor, 4 GB of RAM, 320 GB hard drive and integrated Intel graphics.

The HP ProBook 4530s has a larger 15.6-inch display, and all models come with a CD/DVD drive, built-in Bluetooth 3.0 and a 6-cell battery. Upgrade options include an Intel Core i5 processor and larger hard drive.

Laptop Magazine tests an upgraded model with a Core i5 processor that checks in at just over $700. Editors say the aluminum design looks better than most budget laptops, and it feels very sturdy. The Chiclet-style keyboard has good tactile feedback, and a full-size number pad will come in handy for business applications. Its five hours of battery life is in line with other business laptops.

NotebookCheck.net tests the HP ProBook 4530s with a Core i3 processor and finds performance suitable for most business applications. "The combination of Intel's Core i3-2310M, and the integrated GMA HD 3000 graphics card, is more than enough for all office and many multimedia applications, especially since the performance advantage as well as the efficiency are better compared to the previous generation," says Felix Sold.

Graphics performance is one downside, so users shouldn't expect to do any serious gaming with the HP ProBook 4530s. We also saw one report that the cooling fan is very loud. The base HP ProBook 4530s-XU015UT configuration receives a lot of reviews at Newegg.com and Amazon.com, and while users rate the system very highly overall, several complain about the amount of bloatware HP installs on the machine. (Bloatware is applications added to a PC by its manufacturer, such as trials for various services.

Asus N56VM notebook can perform as one. Mostly it will be used for everyday web browsing, email etc. and photo/HD video editing. It handles my Sony a77 24MP images like they were 15yr old 500k GIFs LOL Instant. No waiting. Photoshop v7.0 opens up the fastest I've ever seen. I haven't yet installed Sony Vegas Pro 8 but I expect it to be quick too. A word on the graphics performance.

Not only does the N56VM offer Bluetooth and 802.11g Wi-Fi feature, it also supports Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) which allows you to broadcast the audio and video from your laptop to an HDTV equipped with an adapter. Besides the software that powers the WiDi and other utilities, there was no other software or bloatware preloaded save for the OS.

The Asus N56VM features comes with a Blu-ray drive, two USB 3.0 ports, and headphone and microphone jacks on its right side, and an audio jack for a subwoofer, VGA, HDMI, and Eithernet ports, and two additional USB 3.0 ports on the left. Laptop Toshiba Satellite U845W Specs and Price

Toshiba Satellite U845W Overview

The U845W is an Ultrabook, meaning it’s an ultra-thin design that packs Intel Core processors, in this case the third-generation chips (a.k.a. Ivy Bridge). You can configure it with either 256GB solid-state drive or a 500GB hard disk that’s paired with a 32GB SSD for the rapid booting and wake-up that’s a hallmark of the Ultrabook label.

Back to the screen: It’s 14.4-inch display with a 1,792 x 768 resolution. Toshiba picked the 21:9 aspect ratio for movies, obviously, and many of the big-ticket flicks (like Battleship) are shot in that cinematic format.

Toshiba suggests stretching things out horizontally is actually more conducive to multitasking, and it’s thrown in a special feature on the U845W to make that easier. Toshiba’s Split Screen Utility has pre-configured the screen for multiple windows, so when you drag an app to one of the predetermined areas, it’ll automatically resize itself to fit, and not a pixel of space is wasted.

In our brief hands-on with the U845W, we couldn’t really tell if the split screens actually made the thing more efficient for work, but we can tell you this: This sucker plays loud. It boasts Harman Kardon speakers, enhanced with SRS Premium Sound 3D audio processing.

Toshiba Satellite U845w

Toshiba Satellite U845W Specifications :

The specs match what you'd expect: a third-gen Intel Core i-series ultrabook CPU, an option of either a 500GB hybrid hard drive with 32GB of flash storage or a 256GB SSD, and up to 8GB of RAM. A generous three USB 3.0 ports are studded around the sides, supporting Toshiba's Sleep & Charge and Sleep & Music technologies. There's also an Ethernet port, an SD card slot, and HDMI. Like many higher-end Toshiba Satellites, the U845W comes with Harman Kardon speakers.

The Satellite U845W weighs around 3.5 pounds, according to Toshiba, depending on configuration, and is 0.82 inch thick: thicker than most 13-inch ultrabooks, but around the size of many 14-inchers.

While the U845W has a wider footprint, its depth is shortened. Toshiba videos suggest the U845W will fit perfectly in an airline tray, though we haven't tested that firsthand. You can see the difference in dimensions between the U845W and its more affordable and normally-proportioned sibling, the U845, above. Also note the U845W's two-tone color scheme. The darker parts are rubbery-soft to the touch, a "soft touch trim" around the aluminum exterior.

• OS Provided Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
• Notebook type Ultrabook
• Processor Intel
• RAM 8 GB
• Hard Drive 500 GB
• Type 14.4 in
• Height 0.82 in

Toshiba Satellite U845W Price :

Toshiba also unveiled two other Ultrabooks today: First up, the Satellite U845 is a budget design with a 500GB hard disk (plus either 16GB or 32GB of Flash memory) and a 14-inch screen that starts at $750. Then there’s the Portégé Z935, an extremely thin (0.63 inches thick) and light (2.5 pounds) design that boasts Ivy Bridge processors and eight-hour battery life. That one starts at $900.

Gigabyte 975g X11 Specifications And Price

Gigabyte was set to launch its lightest notebook yet, and according to their claims, this would be the “lightest notebook on Earth”. Did they live up to their claims? We think they might have as far as 11.6″ notebooks are concerned: Gigabyte 975g X11

The device has officially been announced and featuring an 11.6” 1366×768 display, the Gigabyte X11 sports a carbon fibre build and weighs in at an impressive 975g, so if you’re looking for a light and portable notebook to take with you on the go, the Gigabyte X11 might be an option worth considering.

Hot on the heels of yesterday's leak, Gigabyte's just made its 11.6-inch X11 laptop (or is that an Ultrabook?) official. At 975g (2.15 pounds) it claims the title of "lightest notebook on earth" -- and weighs even less on Mars. Design-wise, you're looking at a 16.5mm (0.65 inches) to 3mm (0.19 inches) thin Macbook Air-like body made of real carbon fiber with an aluminum hinge.

Gigabyte 975g X11 Price

So what sort of specs will the X11 be packing under its hood? It will come in a variety of different configurations and is expected to be Gigabyte 975g X11 Price between $999 to $1,299 depending on the specs. It will also feature Intel’s 3rd generation Core processors (Ivy Bridge), a 128GB SSD, 4GB of RAM, USB 3.0 ports and the low-power Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S430 Specifications And Price In Euro

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S430 Overview :

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S430 is less than 2.5mm thick, still comes with an optical drive and 1600 x 900 pixels display. Other opt-ins expected is the NVIDIA Optimus graphics processor and up to 1TB of storage. The S430 comes with Dolby Home Theatre V4 and USB 3.0 ports. Lenovo expects the S430 to be available in June

The key here is the port on the left, namely Thunderbolt. We expect this to be a big theme of CES 2012, with the weight of the industry moving behind the inevitable successor to USB.

And so it should. To quote Lenovo, Thunderbolt allows you to “transfer a full-length HD move in less than 30 seconds and back up a year of continuous MP3 playback in just over 10 minutes.”

Intel’s Ivy Bridge architecture will also make its debut with the S430, with our Lenovo spokesman making it clear that this would be one of the flagship products at the time of launch.

This helps the 14in S430 to shed some weight and girth compared to the ThinkPad S420, which it replaces. The main stats are “under 4lb” and “less than 20mm thick” according to our insider, which is quite respectable for a machine that includes either a DVD burner or a second hard drive.

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S430 Specifications :

• Display: 14 inches
• Resolution: 1366 x 768
• Operating system: Windows 7
• Notable apps: MS Office Starter 2010, Norton Antivirus 2012
• Processor: Intel Ivy Bridge Core i3
• Chipset: N/A

• Battery: 6 cell
• Depth: 9.37 inches
• Thickness: 0.87 inches
• Weight: 4 pounds
• Color: Brown

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S430 Price In Euro :

If a product page on Geizhals.at is to be believed, the Thunderbolt loaded, 14-inch S430 is set to carry a €809 (about $1,015) price tag on one of the higher-end models, with this particular one showing a hot off the press Ivy Bridge CPU (i5-3210M), NVIDIA GeForce GT630M graphics, 4GB of RAM and two USB 3.0 ports, among other things.

Of course, this kind of cash is a slightly larger amount than, say, the $749 we heard when the machine was announced, though, that's likely caused by the souped-up specs and could, as usual, vary depending on configuration. Either way, we have a feeling it won't be too long before we find out its official pricing and release date.

New Cheaper MacBook Air 2012, Arrive In Summer Price For $799

Apple is reportedly considering responding to the upcoming second-generation ultrabooks by launching a US$799 MacBook Air in the third quarter of 2012, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

Although Acer has recently reduced its ultrabook shipment target, Intel continues to aggressively push ultrabooks and is aiming to have the devices priced at US$699 in the second half of the year.

However, if Intel is unable to bring down ASPs to its goal, the price gap between ultrabooks and the US$799 MacBook Air may further postpone the time ultrabooks become standardized, the sources noted.

Intel has already set aside a fund of US$300 million for ultrabooks and another US$100 million for developing its own application store.

In addition, with its heavy investment in product promotions, the company believes the investments will help strengthen notebook brand vendors' morale and help increase ultrabook's share in the notebook market.

A source in the supply chain has told DigiTimes Apple will release the $799 (£494) MacBook Air in Q3 this year, which translates as sometime between July and September. It's expected to be the company's answer to the current crop of ultrabooks.

Ultrabooks are becoming more common, with second generation models emerging from the likes of Sony, Asus, Acer, and Lenovo. The source says they don't think ultrabooks will really start selling until Windows 8 launches

They didn't give any specs for this budget Air, but I reckon it would pack an 11-inch screen, perhaps with a 32GB SSD. While the $799 price tag converts to £500, I'd expect it to cost more than that. The current MacBook Air starts at £849, or $999 in the US, so I think us Brits would be looking at at least £700. Not exactly cheap for a laptop, but then this is Apple we're talking about.

Apple is expected to redesign the MacBook Pro so it resembles the Air, slimming it down and making it lighter. It may also add a retina display, like on the new iPad, which would be quite some package. It could also be preparing a larger MacBook Air. So expect a killer laptop lineup from Apple this summer.

But maybe Apple's biggest threat will come from Qualcomm. A few weeks ago it announced its smartbooks will be thinner and lighter than anything that's gone before. It promised the devices back in 2009, but only showed off some prototypes.

They'll use Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon S4 chip, and should go on sale in the second half of the year. Google's Chromebooks have gone a little quiet of late, but maybe that's because Google is putting its energies into a tablet.

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430 Specs and Price

Lenovo announced a slew of notebooks back at CES in January, so you'll be forgiven if the ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530 don't ring a bell. Those names are about to hit closer to home, though, because both models are finally on sale in the US and Asia with a base price of $459.

Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E530/E430 are latest additions in business series laptops of Lenovo. It is powered by Intel’s Second Generation Core i3 / i5 processors and comes with pre-installed Windows 7 Professional OS.

Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E530/E430 Laptop sports a 15.6-inch HD LED display with 1366 x 768 pixles screen resolution, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, SuperMulti DVD Burner, and Dolby Advanced Audio.

Lenovo-thinkpad-edge. Other features include 5GB of Free Lenovo Cloud Storage, Thinner and lighter design, Finger Print reader, Windows 8 Ready and black brushed aluminum casing.

Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 Specs and Price

Acer's branding that there Ultra M3 as an Ultrabook because it's less than 20mm (.8 inches) thin, but given that 15-inch display, numpad, optical drive and graphical horsepower, it's hard to think of this as anything other than a mainstream laptop.

If you accept Acer's marketing scheme, though, this is the first so-called Ultrabook to ship with discrete graphics. As of this writing, at least, we don't have a confirmed price, though Acer has said the pricing for the Ultra series should align with current TimelineX notebooks.

Until we know for sure, it'll be hard to say how sweet of a deal this is, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about what it actually does. How does the performance stack up against regular 'ol 15-inch laptop? Does it pummel your garden-variety Ultrabooks like you'd expect it to?

Lenovo IdeaPad U300e Price and Specifications

Lenovo IdeaPad U300e is the latest Notebook / Laptop by Lenovo. Lenovo ideapad U300e may seem like the value version of the very similar U300s. Which it basically is. Still, a cheap Ultrabook never goes to waste, especially in a market segment, where every dollar makes a difference

Lenovo IdeaPad U300e Specifications

That near-grand amount will get you Intel's Core i5-2476m CPU and HD3000 graphics, 4GB of RAM, a hybrid drive (32GB SSD mixed with 500GB HDD), as well as a Premium copy of Windows 7. More importantly, the machine wouldn't gracefully fall under the "Ultra" category if it wasn't flaunting a relatively slim form factor, in which it tightly squeezes through the standards at 0.7-inches in thickness.

Final Cut Pro X: How to Download and Install

With Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3, XML 1.1 provides even more detail, to the point that it has enabled a new plugin, 7toX (from Intelligent Assistance), to import projects from Final Cut Pro 7 — addressing a huge concern of the existing user base. Another new workflow capability is support for Apple Xsan storage, with file locking so team members don't trip on each other's work.

Final Cut Pro X: How to download and install

Since the only way to get Final Cut Pro X is through the Mac App Store, installation is easy:

• You just click "Buy" in the store,
• And the app's icon appears in your Finder, ready to run.
• You'll be able to install it on five Macs, and you receive updates automatically.

The program requires at least a Core 2 Duo-based Mac running Snow Leopard, a decent video processor, 2.4GB of disk space (so be ready for a possibly lengthy download, depending on your bandwidth), and 2GB RAM (4GB recommended). After installing Final Cut Pro X, be sure to run Apple Update, as there's a Content update for the app that adds sound effects and a ProApps QuickTime Codecs update.

I installed Final Cut on a midrange current iMac, with a 3.1 GHz Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM, because I wanted to see how responsive the app was on a machine less powerful than the 8-core, top-end machine on which I'd seen a demo. I'll share my performance results after walking you through the new interface and features.

Final Cut Pro X Price

Download Final Cut Pro X now from the Mac App Store. Final Cut Pro X Price is $299.99.
